Riley Green is having some very colorful interviews while he’s in the UK, and they are leaving me with a side stitch.
Riley Duckman is across the pond, touring all over the UK and Ireland before returning to the United States after his final show in Dublin on September 19th. Since Riley Green does not often tour in Europe, he’s out and about in between shows doing a lot of press for publications and podcasts across the pond.
We’ve already seen the viral clips from the Girls in Low Places podcast interview, which was a follow-up to their flirtatious interview last year, which ended with Green asking host Katie Atkin on a date to Cracker Barrel the next time she was in the United States. However, their paths crossed in the UK before that happened, so the two had a cornflakes date, with hysterical banter. Katie Atkin sported some saucy attire that led Green to question:
“What kind of show is this?”
The interview heated up even more when Atkin attempted to recreate a scene from the “Worst Way” music video, leaving Green in shock and awe.
The women across the pond are bold, witty, and are conducting interviews that put Riley Green in a light that we’ve never seen before, and I love it. It’s a hilarious watch for the viewers, and they are not afraid to ask him questions that we all have pinging around our heads.
An Irish interviewer, Abigail Parkinson, adopted a similar approach to Katie Atkin during her interview with Riley Green, prompting the Alabama native to disclose his red and green flags. But before she got to that question, she asked him the pressing question of how his forearms got so big:
“Take it back to whenever you were born, whenever you came out of the womb, did you have those arms or what? What was the situation?”
Green let out a chuckle at the way she approached the question, but then gave an honest answer that he was a small kid growing up.
“I was kind of small as a kid. I was kind of short until I was in about the 9th grade, and I had a growth spurt. My dad had big forearms, and his brother did. So, maybe construction work over the years kind of got me forearms.”
Parkinson then transitions the conversation into his hit duet with Ella Langley, “You Look Like You Love Me,” asking Green if women have tried to pick him up using the lyrics of the song. The conversation takes a turn when she hilariously confesses to Riley Green that she was supposed to go on a date the night of his concert in London, but she had to cancel because it wouldn’t be fair to the guy. When Green questions why, she candidly says because she will have her eyes locked on the “Worst Way” vocalist all night.
“Wouldn’t be a good first date…”
Green hilariously responds.
This then leads Riley Green to share what his red and green flags of dating are:
“Green flag would be if they’re nice to the waiter. If they have to go outside and smoke cigarettes the whole time, maybe that’s a red flag, you know? A lot of times we’d go on dates to Waffle House, you can smoke in there…”
So smoking at the table is okay, but having to pause the conversation to smoke outside doesn’t fly. Noted. We all know that Riley Green is a simple country man, so it’s not surprising that good manners are a green flag for him.
These interviews are a great way for viewers and fans to see the Alabama native in a new light. While he’s playing into some of the satire of these interviews, we are also seeing a more loose side to him, and it’s highly entertaining. The ladies across the pond are bringing the interview heat.
