Carpenter Brut’s New Track “The Misfits The Rebels” is a Bop to Overthrow a Government To
French synthwave powerhouse Carpenter Brut continues the hype for the final chapter in the ‘Leather trilogy’ with the release of the latest track from Leather Temple, “The Misfits The Rebels”. Stuffed to the gills with infectious drum and bass beats, electro synths, and heavy ass riffs, this one’s a baddie that brings the year 2077 to our times.
This is the second single to get released from Leather Temple, following the album’s title track released late last year. Since Carpenter Brut’s music isn’t just there to make you bop your head or move, but it’s also telling a story, here’s a bit of a rundown about what’s going on in the song and its accompanying music video (which you can check out below).
“[‘The Misfits The Rebels’] details the uprising of the Horde, a rebel group and high-tech scavenger collective led by Lita Connor. Alongside the longstanding Leather anti-hero Bret Halford, they launch a series of attacks on the City of Light and make their escape on motorcycles through glittering avenues played out under the crossfire of security forces.
“‘The Misfits The Rebels’ follows the release of the lead single and title track at the end of last year. ‘Leather Temple’ introduced Midwichpolis, a post-apocalyptic city risen from nuclear fallout which is the beating heart of the forthcoming album.
“Eighty-five years after a nuclear explosion devastated everything, humanity survives under the rule of a transhuman elite – the Overlords – who live in neon-lit cities, while the rest of the population struggles to survive among the wreckage.
“At the heart of this dystopia stands Midwichpolis, the nation’s capital, governed with an iron fist by Iron Tusk, a paranoid tyrant, addicted to Pink Base, a synthetic drug, and obsessed with immortality. At the other side of the nation is the Midwichslums, and here reside the Horde, within the Midwichslums a forgotten cold room is buried in the ruins. Inside lies Bret Halford, a.k.a. Leather Teeth, a nightmare from the past.
“Determined to bring down the regime, Lita transforms him into a living weapon. Upgraded with advanced tech, now half-man, half-machine, Bret becomes the unlikely ally of a rebellion in search of justice.”
Radical.
Leather Temple will be released on February 27 via No Quarter Productions/Virgin Records, but you can preorder your copy today.
