Arsenal responded excellently in the second half, creating a number of chances and goals from Bukayo Saka and Leandro Trossard put the visitors ahead.
But a late goal from Brian Brobbey meant the points were shared. It looked like Sunderland stole a point at the perfect point as Arsenal nearly found time for a winner with seconds remaining, but great goalkeeping and defending from former Gunner Dan Ballard saw Arsenal denied.

Men of the match: Leandro Trossard. A really strong performance and an excellent goal, which should have won the game for Arsenal. He was great in trying to unpick the low block, creating lots of openings with strong passes.
