Comedian Druski Under Fire For Controversial Sketch Mocking Megachurch Pastors, But He Kind Of Nailed It

The truth hurts sometimes…

Popular comedian Druski is ruffling feathers with his latest sketch, a satirical video poking fun at megachurch pastors that has many criticizing him for being disrespectful to Christianity, while others are living him for calling out these celebrity pastors who rake in millions and live lavish lifestyles thanks to their church.

You may be familiar with Druski (whose real name is Andrew Desbordes) for his comedic skits on social media, his standup comedy, or his hilarious podcast appearances with his fellow comedians like Theo Von or Tom Segura. He went viral last year for his sketch in which he went “undercover” as a white man at a NASCAR race, which was equally as funny as his latest video.

The new sketch opens with Druski flying around the church in a scene reminiscent of Pastor Bartholomew Orr, who went viral a few years ago for his theatrical sermons that featured the worship leader flying over his congregation on a harness:

He also tells one member of the congregation that he “impregnated her with the word of God,” which is pretty much an exact quote from yet another megachurch pastor:

@lennell1927 When you receive a Word from God, it’s like being impregnated with a divine purpose. You may not see it right away, but something is growing inside of you. The promise, the vision, the breakthrough—it’s already there! But just like a mother carries her child before birth, we have to carry the Word, nurture it, and walk by faith until it manifests. What has God planted in you? Will you walk it out? #ImpregnatedWithTheWord #WalkByFaith #FaithInAction #BirthThePromise #SpiritualPregnancy #GodsTiming #ManifestTheVision #TrustTheProcess #TheWordWorks #FaithOverFear ♬ original sound – len

Throughout the sketch, Druski is dressed exactly like Mike Todd, the polarizing pastor of Transformation Church in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

And he even comments on his own wardrobe:

“I had somebody in the congregation ask why I’m wearing Christian Dior and Christian Louboutins. Cause I’m a Christian, and I walk in the blood of Jesus! I’m a Christian first! Give Him some praise!”

In one of the more spot-on scenes though, Druski tells the congregation that the church is trying to raise $4 million for a project in Africa:

“That needs to appear today. We are not letting anyone leave until we reach our goal, amen?”

And it’s not much of an exaggeration: During an appearance at the Pentecostal Assemblies of the World Convention in Baltimore back in 2024, gospel singer and bishop Marvin Sapp went viral for demanding that the doors be locked until worshipers raised $40,000:

The sketch ends with Druski counting his money in his office and driving away in his luxury car after refusing to pray for a congregant who hadn’t given enough during the offering (which seems like a shot at Joel Osteen who refused to open the doors of his Lakewood Church in Houston, Texas during Hurricane Harvey).

Naturally, the skit has drawn some pushback from Christians who see it as disrespectful and mocking of religion, but it seems like those comments miss the point: Shouldn’t Christians be more upset about these pastors who are making a mockery of religion themselves?

Pretty much everything in his skit is a recreation of a real-life situation, and over the years there have been plenty of megachurch pastors and televangelists like Creflo Dollar, Joel Osteen, Kenneth Copeland, T.D. Jakes, and many, many more who have come under fire for their lavish lifestyles built on the backs of their congregations.

As a Christian, I’m much more offended by these guys who claim to be doing God’s work to enrich themselves than I am a comedian mocking them for it.

Well done, Druski. As sad as it is, he kind of nailed it.
