Expanding on Whirlwind.

Lainey Wilson is expanding on her last studio project, Whirlwind, sharing new songs with fans as a part of Whirlwind (Deluxe).

“This story wasn’t quite finished yet. Whirlwind (Deluxe) is available now. I wrote these last 5 songs when the dust was starting to settle a little bit. Now I’m starting to feel it pick back up with the kick off of my Whirlwind World Tour North America tour dates.”

The extended version of the record features five additional songs, two of which were previously released but without a home on a record, and three entirely new songs. The additional songs include her latest single, “Somewhere Over Laredo,” and the single released in April, “Bell Bottoms Up,” which celebrates Wilson’s signature bell-bottom look. The song was recorded at the iconic Abbey Road Studios in London.

In addition, Wilson gifted fans with three never-heard-before new songs: “King Ranch, King George, King James,” “Yesterday, All Day, Every Day,” and “Peace, Love, and Cowboys.” Wilson must be heavily leaning into the motto that “good things come in threes” with these song titles, eh?

All three songs are stellar, but one standout tune is “Peace, Love, and Cowboys,” which Lainey Wilson heavily teased ahead of this release—this whimsical Woodstock-inspired anthem. The song puts a Western twang on the hippie mentality of the ’70s, spreading peace, love, and, instead of flower power, spreading cowboys.

Wilson, who is a true “Hillbilly Hippie” herself, delivers a powerful message with simple yet effective lyrics. She encourages listeners to go turn back the clock and to enjoy life’s simple things like a good Willie Nelson song while smoking a little bit of pot.

“Eastwood and Woodstock
Willie and good pot
We need more peace, love, and cowboys
Barefoot and blue jeans
Cacti and daisies
We need more peace, love, and cowboys

You can call me old-hat and old-fashioned
A flower child in a Ford 4×4
But click your boots three times and imagine
This world with more”

In the chaotic world that we live in today, Wilson’s messaging in “Peace, Love and Cowboys,” combined with her hypnotizing lyrics, reminds fans to slow down and live in the moment. The world may be becoming more modern, and certain traditions from older times are fading away, but if we can hold onto peace, love, and a bit of the cowboy spirit in our hearts, the world will be a better place.

Turn it up.
