Martha Stewart’s Secret Obsession: Why She Stays Up Until 12:01AM To Watch Taylor Sheridan’s ‘Landman’

Martha’s a Landman fan.
It’s no secret that the Taylor Sheridan hit series that follows the oil and gas industry has been a smash hit. Just like many other Taylor Sheridan series, it has swept the nation with the same craze that came with Yellowstone, and fans cannot get enough.
The plotline that has followed Tommy Norris and his family this season has been slower-paced than the action-packed Season 1. And while the action in the oil field might have settled down a little bit, the family dynamics have been as interesting as ever, with Tommy’s father, T.L., moving to Midland. On top of the dynamic mother/daughter duo of Angela and Ainsley, they have occupied a good bit of our screen as Angela mourns her baby growing up and getting ready to head to college at Texas Christian University.
But it appears that things might finally come to a head between Cami and Tommy Norris during the season finale. During the most recent episode of Landman, after Tommy continued to advise Cami to the best of his ability as to what’s best for the future of her late husband’s company, Cami finally had enough and felt like Tommy didn’t feel the thrill of wildcatting anymore. This feeling led her to fire Tommy from M-Tex Oil.
While it was shocking to me to see Cami fire the man who kept her husband’s company afloat and was truly Monty’s right-hand man, the constant butting of heads suggested that Cami was ready to make a change. However, now M-Tex Oil is at the mercy of this offshore rig to be successful, or else Cami will lose M-Tex to the investor (and cartel boss) Gallino, who operates under the legitimate-sounding alias Danny Morrell.
After Cami made her choice to let Tommy go, I know I’m on the edge of my seat to see what happens with the company. And according to the Season 2 Episode 10 trailer, which is the season finale, it looks like Tommy goes to Gallino for a job or a favor to ensure M-Tex Oil does not go belly up, or to protect and look out for Cami like Monty would have wanted. Or perhaps he is partnering with Gallino on Cooper Norris’ rigs… the possibilities here are endless.
But the choice to work with Gallino comes with a significant risk.
In the season finale’s trailer, viewers hear Gallino tell Tommy that if he loses “this,” the thing Tommy loves the most, it is the first thing Gallino will take. This statement left viewers with many questions regarding what Gallino sees as most valuable in Tommy’s life.
I’m sure everyone will be tuning into the season finale, eager to see how this all shakes out. And according to Ali Larter, some big celebrities stay up late to watch the show as soon as it drops.
During a recent appearance on Late Night with Seth Meyers, Ali Larter shared that Martha Stewart is a BIG Landman fan. Ali shared that because she lives in a small town in Idaho, she can live a quiet life with her children. But when she comes to bigger cities, like New York, her celebrity is reactivated, which is a funny experience for her children, who realize that their mother is quite famous.
Seth Meyers then asked Larter if she’s ever been recognized by anyone notable while out and about. Larter then shared a story of being recognized by the one and only Martha Stewart at New York City’s famed Polo Bar.
“I love New York City, it’s the best. And one of my favorite restaurants is that very chic Polo Lounge. Very hard (to get a table). Best food. Great martinis. And we decided to take the girls there for this birthday dinner, and so we’re there on Monday night, and it’s probably like 8:30, 9:00, and there’s like a beat. There’s a vibe happening. And this woman across the room catches my eye, and she has kind of this twinkle. She’s looking at me, and I’m clocking her, and Martha Stewart starts walking straight at me.
Okay? And I’m going, ‘Oh my gosh, is that Martha?’ She comes up to the table in this huge white fur, like this bold–she’s like a lioness.”
Being recognized by the one and only Martha Stewart is an honor in itself, but Stewart then shared that she’s a big fan of Larter’s work on the hit Taylor Sheridan show.
“She looks at me and goes, ‘I wait until 12:01 every Sunday to watch your show.’ And then she looks at Vivianne and goes, ‘Your mother is a bada**.’ And we were just like all enamored! Like in this surreal moment of Martha Stewart, who I love, who’s like the queen, the icon, and she’s a ‘Landman’ fan.”
Martha’s got good taste. I’d love to hear her thoughts on how this season has unfolded.
