Jerry Jones Offers Hilarious Response When Reporter Asks If Cowboys-Packers Tie Is Like “Kissing Your Sister”
Jerry Jones has always had a way with words. The Dallas Cowboy’s owner, president, and general manager has a knack for saying some odd and questionable things from time to time. Jerry Jones has always had a way with words.
The Dallas Cowboy’s owner, president, and general manager has a knack for saying some odd and questionable things from time to time. He’s previously stated that squirrel brains are delicious, and once tried to calm down a riled up Cowboys fanbase by saying that it wasn’t going to be all “smiles and glory holes.”
Yes, he actually said that.
And in the latest episode of, “What in the world did Jerry just say?,” the long-time NFL owner reacted to his team battling – and then tying – with the Green Bay Packers by relating the situation to kissing a family member (specifically, one’s sister). In Jerry’s defense, he didn’t bring up the topic… but he certainly seemed to be amused by it.
Before we get to that though, in case you missed last night’s back-and-forth Sunday Night Football matchup between the Dallas Cowboys and the Green Bay Packers… it ended in a tie. The NFL still does ties, and it’s a little disappointing to be honest. Especially with a game like last night’s that ended 40-40 after both teams kicked field goals in overtime.
If you were interested in my two cents, it’s about time that the NFL follows in the footsteps of college football’s overtime rules. Let each team go from the defense’s 25-yard-line and have a touchdown fest until the winner is crowned. Just like there’s no crying in baseball, there should be no tying in football.
Most NFL fans, coaches, analysts and players (Cowboys QB Dak Prescott even said “You don’t play the game for ties”) think that ending is a tie is a disservice. And I can confirm that at least one NFL owner isn’t a fan of the game ending in a tie either: Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones.
At least that’s what I think is viewpoint is. To be frank, his weird answer to an even more bizarre question doesn’t exactly make Jerry Jones thoughts on tying clear. A reporter asked Jerry if ending a game in a tie is like kissing your sister, and Jones a) clarified that he’s never done that and b) asked a very strange question of his own in response:
“Well, I’ve never kissed my sister, so… how does it taste?”
In defense of Jerry Jones (I know some Cowboys fans hate to hear a sentence start off like that), the reporter asking him that question gets the blame. The Cowboys GM handled the weird inquiry about ties and sister-kissing with some grace… but maybe a little too much smiling? Maybe you could sneak in a look of disgust next time, Jerry?
And I’ll also add that, despite Jerry Jones being a hinderance to the future development of the Dallas Cowboys, he’s an absolute content machine. He’s funny, he’s quick-witted, and he’s a natural on a camera or with a microphone. Add the fact that he’s old (he’ll turn 83 in a couple of weeks) and you’ve got yourself a real wild card as a general manager, when it comes to dealing with the media.
