Mayhem Unveil New Song “Life Is a Corpse You Drag”
Norwegian black metal icons Mayhem’s new album Liturgy Of Death is coming out in about a month’s time and they’re back with yet another taste of what’s to come. Rather than focus on a main track off the list, they’ve opted this time to go for a special track included in the final package.
“Life Is A Corpse You Drag” is about as hopeful as you’d expect from Mayhem, which means that it’s not hopeful at all. It’s just the brutally honest truth that no matter what you do, you’ll ultimately be dragged kicking and screaming into the abyss — so what’s the point?
Speaking of the track, Mayhem’s Attila explains what “Life Is A Corpse You Drag” is all about, but I think we all know that already…
“‘Life Is a Corpse You Drag’ is not a slogan, but a ritual and a realization. It names an ancient law: Consciousness as burden, the body as vessel, faith as a seal on a grave already closed. There is no comfort in this recognition but there is release. If we have been dead all along, there is nothing left to lose. What remains is pure energy: Movement without fear, presence without compromise, a victorious march into the final destruction.”
Liturgy Of Death will be released on February 6, but you can preorder your copy today.
