Is Brianna Chickenfry Shading Zach Bryan? Why Fans Think Her Taylor Swift Post Is A Direct Response To His New Album

I think it’s safe to say that Brianna Chickenfry has heard “Skin,” and she thinks it’s about her too…
Today, Zach Bryan released his new album With Heaven On Top,, and one song in particular has people talking, and that would be a song called “Skin,” which appears to be a shot at his ex-girlfriend, the aforementioned Brianna Chickenfry. And maybe “shot” is too strong a word, but if nothing else, he certainly addresses the toxic relationship.
Of course, the two of them went through an extremely public break up in fall of 2024, and while Brianna has spent the last year and a half talking about it, Zach has remained pretty quiet… until now. In terms of the lyrics in “Skin” that have fans thinking it’s about Brianna, Bryan talks about the ink the two got for each other during their relationship, as Brianna once shared that Bryan got a tattoo of her long before they started dating, and she later got inked his lyrics “how lucky are we” on her arm.
In the tune, Bryan is saying that he’s ready ready to take a blade to his skin to remove any trace of her from his body:
“I’m taking a blade to my old tattoos
I’m draining the blood between me and you
I’m taking a blade to my own skin
And I ain’t never touching yours again
Yeah, I ain’t never touching yours again…”
In the second verse of the song, Bryan says that Brianna is not an innocent party in the downfall of their relationship. He also says that she talks badly about all her friends, perhaps referencing the fallout between her and her best friend, Grace O’Malley, which came crashing down shortly after the relationship ended as well.
Bryan ends this verse owning his mistakes, noting that he’s working on himself:
“How do tattoos take to your skin?
Is your higher ground ever sinking?
Do you love people just to win when it’s over?
How do tattoos take to your skin?
Do you still talk sh*t on all your friends?
I’m here to take it all to the chin
This time stone cold sober”
I don’t think either one of them seem like incredible partners to be in a romantic relationship, and while there are two sides to the accusations they’ve both thrown at each other, I think anyone can see it’s best that they’re not together anymore, though Brianna once again seemingly didn’t miss a chance to clap back at her ex on social media.
Just a little while ago, she shared a video on TikTok of her getting ready head out the door while lip syncing to Taylor Swift’s song “Actually Romantic,” from her album The Life of a Showgirl, which finds her sarcastically acknowledging how much an ex must still love her because he can’t stop talking about her. She ends the chorus by saying that, even though he was a bad boyfriend, “no man has ever loved me like you do,” which definitely seems like some kind of a point that Brianna wants to get across too since the rumor is that Zach did include a song about her on his album:
“How many times has your boyfriend said
‘Why are we always talking ’bout her?’
It’s actually sweet
All the time you’ve spent on me
It’s honestly wild
All the effort you’ve put in
It’s actually romantic
I really gotta hand it to you, ooh
No man has ever loved me like you do”
Taylor described the song as follows:
“‘Actually Romantic’ is a song about realizing that someone else has kind of had a one-sided, adversarial relationship with you that you didn’t know about. And all of a sudden they start doing too much and they start letting you know that actually, you’ve been living in their head rent-free and you had no idea. It’s presenting itself as them sort of resenting you or having a problem with you but you take that and just accept it as love and you accept it as attention and affection, and how flattering that somebody has made you such a big part of their reality when you didn’t even think about this.”
I swear, it never ends with these two…
