Indiana Hoosiers QB Fernando Mendoza Says The Only Social Media App He Has On His Phone Is… LinkedIn

That’s the kind of thing you want to hear from your starting quarterback.
The Indiana Hoosiers have themselves a QB that’s ready to update his LinkedIn status at the drop of a hat. Considering the noise that other college and professional athletes deal with, that’s rather ideal the Hoosiers. It’s definitely not a bad thing to hear from the Heisman winner who Indiana is hoping will lead them to a national championship.
It’s safe to say that Fernando Mendoza is cut from a different cloth. He handles everything with the utmost class and respect, and even in high-emotional moments, he maintains his impressive composure and always makes sure to thank his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Take this video for example from when the 22-year-old gave this post-game interview after Indiana beat Ohio State in the BIG 10 championship game:
It’s a fine line between goofball and ideal teammate (could be a healthy combination of both, I suppose).
Fernando Mendoza has kind of taken the world by storm as the Indiana Hoosiers – who are still undefeated on the season – have continued to shake off the “worst football program in D1” allegations. Now, they have a chance to prove to the college football world that they are the best in the country. All they have between them and a spot in the national title game is a matchup with the Oregon Ducks in the Peach Bowl on January 9.
Ahead of that contest, Mendoza has been speaking with the media, and in one interview that took place earlier today, the talented and polite-as-can-be quarterback was answering a question when the topic of social media apps came up. It should be no surprise at all that Fernando said the only social media that’s downloaded onto his device is… YouTube and LinkedIn:
“(I don’t) really have social media. I only have LinkedIn and YouTube on my phone right now. It’s really helped put things into perspective, and keep all the opinions in-the-building opinions. I’m not online reading, ‘Oh Fernando is great. Fernando sucks.'”
Now that he explains himself… that sounds like a pretty good plan for the modern day athlete.
Though it is funny that he named “LinkedIn” as one of the social media apps that he does have on his phone. Talk about a career-ready quarterback, eh? What’s even better is that you can go look at his LinkedIn profile, where Mendoza describes himself as the following:
“Process-driven and detail-oriented leader studying Business Administration at Indiana University’s Kelley School of Business after graduating from UC Berkeley in three years. As a quarterback for Indiana Football, I apply a strong foundation in leadership, time management, and communication to excel both on and off the field.
I’m passionate about leveraging my background in business, real estate, and finance to build a career that combines strategic thinking, teamwork, and community impact.I take pride in fostering positive team culture, adapting to new environments, and driving success through preparation, accountability, and collaboration.”
He’s either gonna be an NFL quarterback, or one of most decorated and qualified financial advisors the state of Indiana has ever seen.
I’m honestly rooting for Mendoza and Indiana to win the national title, just so I can check LinkedIn the next day and see that Fernando has already posted an update that reads something like this:
“I’m happy to announce that I’ve just completed my first year at the University of Indiana, and I capped it off by winning the National Championship! I look forward to continuing my personal and professional growth through the game of football.”The post Indiana Hoosiers QB Fernando Mendoza Says The Only Social Media App He Has On His Phone Is… LinkedIn first appeared on Whiskey Riff.
