Another Texas flood relief concert has been announced, and it will take place in one of the state’s most iconic venues.
Over the last few weeks, the country music community has stepped up in a big way since the horrific floods in Central Texas and parts of South Texas. Families are mourning the loss of loved ones, and are now hoping those still unaccounted for will be brought home and properly laid to rest. While it’s uncertain what the full extent of the damage done to these communities will be, and we may not know the full extent for months to come, Texas country artists are stepping up to ensure these communities have the proper funds to rebuild.
Several benefit concerts organized by Texas-born artists have already taken place, such as Josh Weathers’ benefit concert, which raised over $400,000 less than 48 hours after the disaster occurred (and has now surpassed $500,000). George Strait announced “Strait To The Heart,” a benefit concert that is taking place later this month on July 27th, and Pat Green raised over $1 million with a livestream benefit. And Texas natives Miranda Lambert and Parker McCollum announced their benefit show, officially dubbed Band Together Texas.
Established festivals, such as the Tanglefoot Festival, are also incorporating a philanthropic aspect into their previously announced events, sharing that they will donate ticket proceeds to relief funds.
The outpour from country music has truly been incredible to see, and it’s not slowing down.
Today, July 23rd, another benefit show has been announced, and it, too, is bringing together some phenomenal Texas country artists to the stage. Guene Hall in New Braunfels, Texas, announced Jon Wolfe and Friends: A Hill Country Flood Relief Benefit, which will take place on August 10th.
The venue shared the following on their social media channels:
“On Sunday, August 10th, the stage at Gruene Hall will be packed with Texas’ finest, all coming together for a cause close to home.
We’re proud to partner with KNBT to host Jon Wolfe & Friends: A Hill Country Flood Relief Benefit. This will be an incredible night of music, heart, and community to support our Hill Country neighbors. Every dollar of ticket proceeds will go directly to relief efforts.
Let’s show what the Texas music community is made of. Tickets on sale Friday, July 25, at 10 AM. Set your reminders, y’all. This one’s going to sell fast.”
The lineup features a stellar array of Texas artists, including Jon Wolfe, Tracy Byrd, Kevin Fowler, William Beckmann, Jake Worthington, Kylie Frey, Walker Montgomery, and more.
COME ON WITH IT.
Each lineup that is announced blows me away with the artists who are stepping up to support their greater Texas community, and these shows are truly highlighting the best of the best among Texas country artists. This group of talent in the historic venue promises a memorable evening.
In the words of Pat Green:
“I don’t know anything that stands behind Texas better than Texas.”
Before you go, fire up the virtual relief concert that Pat Green recently hosted at Globe Life Field in Arlington, Texas.
