You know you had a rough day when you get thrown in a pond and YOU’RE the one apologizing.
A video went viral this past week showing an altercation on a golf course that erupted after one group was apparently taking way too long, holding up another group and refusing to let them play through.
Unfortunately, the group that was trying to get through included former former NHL center Nick Tarnasky, who played over 200 games in the NHL and had stints with the Panthers, Predators and the Lightning. And even more unfortunate, the guy who was holding them up was hammered drunk and decided to run his mouth.
In the full video of the altercation, the drunk guy was trying to tee off but was taking his sweet time and was already looking a little wobbly. And when the group behind them tried to get them to move out of their way, the liquid courage kicked in and the guy decided to square up to the (unbeknownst to him) former hockey enforcer.
The result was just a masterclass from Taransky on how to handle business. The guy gets thrown into a lake but still decides to come back for more, with Taransky even adding his own sound effects as he landed blow after blow on the guy.
Finally, he tosses the guy onto the grass like a ragdoll before he finally decides he’s had enough and his friends are able to convince him to move on – although he still does a fair amount of jawing for a guy who just got tossed around like a dad throwing their kid in the pool.
After the video went viral, the guy identified himself as Trevor Ogilvie, taking to social media to show off his injuries…which were actually pretty minor. A little black eye, but other than that the hangover was probably the worst part of it.
And yesterday he took to Instagram to issue an apology for his behavior and explain his side of the story, admitting that he was in the wrong and that the alcohol had gotten to him:
“Yup, that’s me guys. The guy that got dropped like a bucket of balls in a pond. Not my finest moment, I know. Looks real bad.
Played 36 holes of golf, we drank way too much, and my mouth ran faster than my brain.
All jokes aside guys, I’d like to apologize to all the folks on the course, anyone caught up in it, and anyone who had to deal with me that day. I lost my cool and I’ve learned from it. Just one of those days where you should’ve kept the cart on the path, you know?
Stay hydrated, keep your stick on the ice, maybe stick to 18.”
Props to this guy for taking it like a champ and admitting that he was an idiot. Too many times we’d see situations like this with people who would try to play the victim, file a lawsuit or something to get some money out of it, try to avoid the bruised ego that he woke up with the next day.
I mean, who hasn’t gotten a little to into one and said something they regretted? Luckily for most of us there just wasn’t an NHL enforcer around to knock us in line when it happened. The post Golfer Who Got Thrown Into A Pond By Former NHL Player Apologizes: “Mouth Ran Faster Than My Brain” first appeared on Whiskey Riff.
