Continuing the Free The Machine Tour well into next year.
This morning, Eric Church announced a ton of 2026 tour dates as part of his current Free The Machine Tour, which will take a pause at the end of November and pick back up in January of next year in Washington, D.C. at The Anthem.
Kashus Culpepper, Caylee Hammack, Ella Langley, Ashley McBryde, Stephen Wilson Jr. and 49 Winchester will rotate as openers on different dates, and it’s a stacked group of performers in addition to Eric’ always high-energy, exciting live show. If Eric isn’t going to be anywhere near you this year on the first half of the tour, he certainly will be next year:
–
Chief released his Evangeline vs. The Machine album earlier this year, and it was of course another evolution of his sound which incorporated a choir, horns and strings and showed off a new side of his artistry and inspirations. His live shows have always been incredible, and this is the first big tour he’s done since 2023 with the Outsiders Revival Tour.
Eric previously played three nights at Red Rocks, and each show was very different, with an orchestra, an old school band, and even a night of acoustic Eric that made for a memorable run to kick off the tour. In speaking with Variety when the tour was announced, Eric says he plans to incorporate elements of all three of those nights into each show on this tour:
“Everything we do every stop on the tour is gonna be within the scope of those three nights. So the first night at Red Rocks, we’re gonna do an orchestra, big band kind of thing. Night two, we’re gonna do old-school band, the OG group. And then night three is me acoustic. So I think the (normal one-night-only) show will end up being in some way the three Red Rocks shows combined into one.
You’re gonna have these moments of where we are now with “Evangeline,” and we’re gonna also bring some of the strings and horns into some of our older stuff. You know, you’ve seen “Mistress (Named Music),” you’ve seen “Knives (of New Orleans)” before, but not this way.
And then we’ll kind of go into what got us here, and then I think the end of the show will be me and a guitar.”
I’ve seen Eric many times live at this point, and he always seems to find a way to shake it up or make parts of the show totally different from night to night, and it’s easily one of the best live shows on the country circuit right now.
Tickets to all shows are available to the general public beginning next Friday, October 3rd, and as per usual, premium members of the Church Choir will have early access to tickets.
