A Morgan Wallen Song Is Going Viral As Part Of A New TikTok Trend – But Most Are Getting The Lyrics Wrong

Doesn’t really work with the actual lyrics…

There’s a new TikTok trend going around featuring a nearly 5-year old Morgan Wallen song that’s racked up thousands of posts and millions of views from men showing off their women…and their truck.

The trend uses Morgan Wallen’s “Silverado For Sale,” which was released in 2021 on his Dangerous: The Double Album. The song was never a single, but quickly became a fan favorite and has been one of Morgan’s more popular deep cuts over the years.

The song, written by Ben Hayslip, Dallas Davidson and Marv Green, tells the story of a man taking out an ad in the newspaper to sell his prized truck so that he can buy an engagement ring for the girl he loves:

“Never thought I’d be callin’ you up today
Takin’ out an ad for this Chevrolet
But there’s a ring in the window just down the street
I wanna marry her, she wants to marry me
Money’s kinda tight but love don’t care
Me and this truck been everywhere
Just need a little spot on the back page
Here’s what I want it to say

This truck will get the prettiest girl in town
Sittin’ right beside you when you’re ridin’ around
It’s got a pretty good radio
If you wanna get her dancin’ down an old dirt road
Spent a lot of Friday nights up under the stars
Get you where you need to go and it’ll go too far
God knows all thе stories it can tell
I got a Silverado for salе”

It’s that last line in the verse and the beginning of the chorus being used for the trend, as guys post pictures of their truck and then their ladies. Except it seems like everybody’s getting the words wrong, posting “Here’s what I wanted to say” instead of “Here’s what I want it to say.”

There are a ton of examples with the misquoted lyrics, but TikTok won’t let me embed them here because they’re posted as photos and not videos. If you want to take a look, you can click here for an example and then just click on the sound. It’s just an endless stream of “wanted” with a few “want it” mixed in.

Of course the trend doesn’t really work as well with “want it” versus “wanted,” because you’re missing some context in the actual lyrics. But several Morgan Wallen fans have taken to TikTok to point out that the trend being used features the incorrect lyrics.

And it’s not the only Morgan Wallen song that’s become a viral trend either: Since the release of “20 Cigarettes” on his I’m The Problem album in 2025, fans have turned the sign for Demonbreun Street in Nashville into a popular filming spot:

Ironically in that one, Morgan taught a lot of people how to properly pronounce “Demonbreun.” Yet somehow, it’s not that lyric that people are messing up, but instead a much simpler one.

Then again, it’s TikTok, so I’m probably taking the misquoted lyrics a little too seriously…The post A Morgan Wallen Song Is Going Viral As Part Of A New TikTok Trend – But Most Are Getting The Lyrics Wrong first appeared on Whiskey Riff.
