Detroit Tigers Players Break Out “Trump Dance” With The President In Attendance At Yankee Stadium

The Detroit Tigers might have lost to the New York Yankees, but they won in the eyes of Donald Trump for breaking out the president’s favorite dance move.

Yesterday, President Trump decided to take in a game of baseball at Yankee Stadium. He was in New York for events that were recognizing the 24th anniversary of 9/11, and while he was there, Trump got over to the historic ball park to watch the Tigers take on the Yankees.

The President received a warm welcome from fans and players alike, and saluted the flag and the service members in attendance as the Yankees honored America with the singing of the National Anthem:

Once the game got going, there was a noticeable trend from the Detroit Tigers squad.

Most baseball teams have a little “on-base-celebration” that each player does when they successfully get a hit. During the contest in New York, the team from Detroit seemingly changed theirs up a bit and opted to celebrate getting on base by breaking into the POTUS’ favorite arm-movement-heavy jig.

Ever since Trump entered into the political sphere, he’s loved to do this arm dance – that’s now coined the “Trump Dance” – and he usually busts it out when the 1978 hit song “Y.M.C.A.” by the Village People is playing. During the game, there was no song necessary.

The Tigers players were just breaking out the move when they got a hit, seemingly as a tribute to the president being in attendance:

I’m sure the President of the United States was happy to see that while he was at Yankees Stadium… even if he was probably rooting for the Yankees.

And Trump wasn’t the only one that was happy to see the “Trump Dance.” Many others online took to the reply section to show their support for the Detroit Tigers adopting that celebratory boogie while they were playing in front of the POTUS:
