That, my friends, is how you deliver a grade-A burn.

Bill Belichick has found himself getting a good old-fashioned roast after he had some not-nice things to say about Patriots owner Robert Kraft. In a recent interview with The Boston Globe, the University of North Carolina football head coach shared that he enjoys working at the collegiate level more than the professional level, stating that it’s easier to create a shared vision.

While discussing this, she threw some shade toward the owner of his former NFL team:

“There’s no owner, there’s no owner’s son, there’s no cap, everything that goes with the marketing and everything else, which I’m all for that. But it’s way less of what it was at that level. Generic NFL teams, you have the owner, president, general manager, personnel director, college director, pro director, cap guy, some other consultant, then head coach. I’d say when we had our best years in New England, we had fewer people and more of a direct vision. And as that expanded, it became harder to be successful.”

After this part of the interview gained some traction online, Boston radio hosts Mike Felger and Tony Massarotti of 98.5 The Sports Hub’s “Felger & Mazz,” slammed Belichick for this comment ahead of his first season with the Tarheels, with his controversial 24-year-old girlfriend by his side.

The radio hosts began to share their thoughts about Belichick and the icy relationship he has with the Krafts. Massarotti starts the conversation off on a hot note, sharing his honest thoughts about Belichick.

“Bill’s an a**. He is. He’s an a**. I would like to add a second part of that word, but I can’t because part of it’s not allowed if I put them together. What an a-hole. Seriously. The guy is a raging a-hole. He’s an a**, he always has been an a**. He’s a great football coach. He knew what to do with Tom Brady, he won Super Bowls but he’s an a**. Period. End of story.”

Massarotti then elaborates on what was so “a**y” about the comments he made to The Boston Globe:

“Just the need to still throw people under the bus, to be completely oblivious to the realities of why they won. He says that things got in his way, basically, or he implies that with ownership, management, the more complicated it got, the harder it got. When the reality is he ran the whole thing for a large majority of the time. He lost control over the organization, which is why power was taken away from him. There’s no accountability, there’s no real self-reflection there — at least publicly.”

That was Massarotti’s first main point as to what made this interview so compelling, but he does not end there and continues to grill Belichick with his second point.

“He is so vain. Bill is the smartest guy in the world who knows how to win, and if everyone stays out of his way, it will be good. That, to me, was sort of the message of it. ‘People, get out of my way, I know what we’re doing and we’re going to win. As long as people stay out of my way.’

It was disrespectful, really, to anyone who was in New England with him. I feel like it was kind of a warning shot to the people at North Carolina: ‘Stay out of my way. This is how I do it.’ He’s an a-hole. He is. He’s an a**. The guy’s been a** his whole life. Why should he stop being an ass now?”

Big Jim Murray then chimes in, noting that the interview is giving “big baby” energy.

“He’s a big baby. It’s always everyone else’s fault… Funny, no mention of the young floozy who is ruining his life on and off the field.”

Of course, he’s pointing to Jordon Hudson, who has infiltrated herself into every aspect of his life, both personal and professional. The two’s relationship age gap initially made their relationship viral, but after a CBS Sunday Morning interview, Hudson’s true colors were revealed, and her true nature was exposed when she sharply shut down the interviewer when he asked a question about how the two met. Which, mind you, has been spoken about numerous times. After the interview, many accused Hudson of “elder abuse” and expressed concern for the fact that Hudson was calling all the shots and possibly manipulating Belichick.

Back to the interview. The radio hosts then discuss Belichick’s decision to bring over many other NFL coaches and staff members with him to UNC, which completely undermines his point from The Boston Globe that creating a shared vision is facilitated by working with the same people. The only thing that changed was who he calls “boss.”

Mike Felger then closes their roast session on Belichick, noting that while they think he’s on a fast track to failure at UNC, they hope he can turn his attitude around and have a good season. Also, he shared that he’s interested in watching to see Jordon Hudson’s involvement in it all.

“Between the Jordon Hudson stuff and just the way he’s carrying on, I think there are stakes now, for me… This is all a long way of saying, bring it on. I’m interested in watching him at UNC. I’m rooting for him to have success because I think that’s a better story. I think that would be great… I want him to knock it out of the park there and get looks in the NFL.

I don’t think that’s going to happen. I think it’s over for him. I don’t think he’s going to have success there, but I want him to. Either way, I’m engaged, I’m interested. … If he can look like this delusional, obstinate, completely arrogant, out of his mind, horny, old, half-nuts, old man and go 10-1 and go to the NCAA playoffs, that’s a cool story. Yeah, he’s nuts! But the old guy’s still got it. I’ll take that story.”

They did not hold back one ounce, and I love it.

UNC opens Sept. 1 at home against TCU. I’m sure many sports and non-sports fans will tune in either to see how Jordon Hudson is involved on the sideline or if Belichick is setting up UNC for a winning season.

Check out the whole interview while you’re here.
