Taking her talents to Broadway.
Last week, Ashley McBryde announced that she would soon be opening her own space on Broadway, inspired not only by her sobriety but also her passion for songwriting.
Redemption Bar will be located on the fifth floor of Chief’s on Broadway, the downtown Nashville bar owned by Eric Church, and will feature a zero-proof cocktail menu with drinks named after the lyrics that have inspired her along the way. And the bar will also have space for songwriters “who prioritize storytelling over covers.”
According to Ashley:
“Songwriters are the backbone of this community, and it’s important to me to create a place for all the tourists on lower Broadway to experience original music from some of the people who are keeping dreams alive in this town.”
In speaking on the space, Ashley says that although it will still sell alcoholic drinks, it was important to her to have a space that didn’t make non-alcoholic drinks feel like an afterthought or an inconvenience:
“As someone who is three years sober, the typical response to ‘do you have anything Non-Alcoholic?’ is either ‘why did you come to a bar if you aren’t gonna drink?’ or ‘you can have soda water and a lime I guess.’ Some of my favorite places to socialize became wildly unaccommodating when the only thing that changed was what was in my cup. It was vital that I create a space where not drinking is the forethought – normalized. You can get alcohol drinks in Redemption too, because everyone is welcome.”
Ashley has been open about her sobriety journey, recently celebrating over 1,000 days sober. And now she’s ready to celebrate it in a new way, with her own residency in downtown Nashville.
The country hitmaker announced today that she would be heading to Chief’s for “The Redemption Residency,” a four show residency in the two-story Neon Steeple performance venue this fall that Ashley says will present a unique experience each night for fans:
“The guys and I are so happy to be back in Nashville for four nights of ‘you had to be there’ moments to help close out this year. We’ve been making our kind of church wherever we go for years; from dive bars to back porches, Dahlonega to Lindeville. It’s something special to bring it all to the only Steeple on Lower Broadway.”
The residency will take place on October 14 and 15, and December 11 and 12. Tickets will be available to her McBryde Trybe fan club members tomorrow, while opening up for members of Church’s fan club the Church Choir on Wednesday, and will go on sale to the general public (if there are any left) on Friday.
The Redemption Bar will officially open to the public on August 28, and will no doubt be just another reason that Chief’s is the best and most unique artist bar in downtown Nashville. The post Ashley McBryde Announces Four Night “Redemption Residency” At Eric Church’s Nashville Bar, Chief’s first appeared on Whiskey Riff.
