Safe to say that Aaron Rodgers has some resentment for the New York Jets? Understandably so. Safe to say that Aaron Rodgers has some resentment for the New York Jets?

Understandably so. His two seasons with the “Gang Green” didn’t go as they were intended to. The first season was obviously a wash because of Rodgers’ season-ending injury he suffered a mere four snaps into his Jets tenure. But apparently New York didn’t see enough in year two to bring back the 41-year-old quarterback, even though he had some solid stats to go with the Jets’ 5-12 record.

So they sent him packing, and Rodgers now finds himself suiting up in the black and gold. He’s made his Pittsburgh Steeler debut… and it just looks weird. For some reason the Jets green wasn’t that bad of a look on him, but I suppose it was closer to the Green Bay’s colors that he sported for almost two decades. That being said, A-Rod certainly looked comfortable in his new threads.

Funny enough, the Pittsburgh Steelers started their season with a tilt against the New York Jets. The two NFL teams basically just swapped quarterbacks from last season, with Justin Fields now running things over in New York, and Rodgers suiting up for the Steelers. Both QBs had an impressive day, but Rodgers really turned back the clock, and showed out with four touchdown passes.

This was the last of the game, and it might have been the most impressive:

Rooooooodgeeeers. He’s still got it.

The Steelers ended up winning the high-scoring, back-and-forth contest 34 to 32. Pittsburgh fans loved what they saw out of their new, old quarterback. And the Jets? Well they are used to the Jets being the Jets. A heartbreaking, incredibly close loss is just what the doctor ordered for New York faithful.

And after the game, it certainly seemed like Aaron Rodgers enjoyed beating his former squad. During a post-game press conference, the future hall of famer was asked about New York head coach Aaron Glenn saying that Rodgers wasn’t a right fit for the team moving forward, and how it felt to beat a coach that said that.

Aaron Rodgers was very stoic in his delivery of this response, but you have to think he was smiling on the inside when he uttered this in response:

“I was happy to beat everybody associated with the Jets.”

Ice cold from Aaron Rodgers.

The matchup wasn’t advertised as a “revenge game,” but I’d say Rodgers was definitely treating it as such. Though many were ready to write him off, it’s clear that the former (and longtime) Green Bay Packer can still show some flashes and tap into that vintage Rodgers that the entire NFL learned to fear.

And to be clear… this is the first week of the NFL season. Who knows how things will go from here. The Steelers and Rodgers could very well go into a slump, and this Week 1 contest stand as his best performance. Or Rodgers could continue to shine as the oldest player in the NFL.

One thing is for sure though… the Jets are going to Jet.The post Aaron Rodgers Buries Entire New York Jets Staff With Ice-Cold Post Game Comment first appeared on Whiskey Riff.
