The Sphere residency has come to life.
For the last year, Zac Brown has teased that he was working on a residency at the Las Vegas Sphere. He first shared plans for the show on Theo Von’s This Past Weekend podcast, announcing it would take place at some point in 2025.
He opened up that he was able to attend U2 and Phish’s shows at the location and drew a lot of inspiration from how to work their shows afterward. U2 performed the same show with the same visuals every night, but Phish delivered a completely different set each night, accompanied by a new set of visuals. Brown drew from these two styles to brainstorm the best way to amplify their sound on stage.
“That’s the greatest canvas that has ever been created, so far. And to get to be one of the first bands to go in there and do it…this is our masterpiece, man.”
Zac Brown noted that he has been working with a team for over a year, which is the longest time he has spent composing a show.
“It’s going to be the biggest spectacle we have ever done. I am very excited because this puts us in another league. And the goal is for our band to just keep going, man, and be like The Rolling Stones or the Grateful Dead…yeah, Jimmy Buffett. Be in that legacy act thing. This is our first thing that I am putting a year-plus work into for making one show.”
While there wasn’t much information given after that, on the AMA red carpet while talking to the popular livestreamer Kai Cenat, he dropped that he will have a residency later this year.
“We’re doing a residency at the Sphere. End of the year.”
However, there has still been no official announcement…until now.
Earlier this week, the Zac Brown Band announced their new record, Love & Fear, which appears to mark a new chapter in the band’s musical journey. Leading up to the album’s announcement, the group scrubbed their Instagram profile and posted a cryptic message to fans, noting it “Isn’t goodbye. It’s a thank you.”
They did not leave fans hanging for long, wondering what was coming next, announcing their new record, which is due everywhere December 5th.
When the album was announced, an ominous countdown appeared on their website as well, suggesting it had something to do with a live show announcement. Sure enough, it was the Las Vegas Sphere residency. Zac Brown took to social media to announce the four-show residency, which will be held on December 5th (the release date of the forthcoming record), 6th, 12th, and 13th.
“Bringing our new album ‘Love & Fear’ to Sphere Las Vegas is a dream come true. It’s my masterpiece so far. This show is the story of my life that I have never shared, a journey through my imagination, music, and stories that have defined who I am. All of this brought to life in the incredible immersive environment of Sphere.
It will be a unique experience where you can really feel every note, every word, right there with us. We can’t wait to share it with the fans. – Zac Brown”
Given that Zac Brown has been talking about this series of shows for over a year, fans are in for a treat. It’s apparent he’s taken his time putting together this show to highlight insane graphics, new music, and stellar storytelling.
If the graphics are anything like this preview, I’m in. This looks incredible.
Presale registration for the shows is now open. Premium Zamily members have priority presale access on July 21 at 10 AM PT. General on-sale begins Friday, July 25, at 10:00 AM PT.
