“You Have My Permission To Laugh” – Savannah Bananas’ Player Owns Face Planting A Backflip Attempt On Live TV
OUCH. The Savannah Bananas have taken over the world. The baseball team is much more than that, with their players flipping, acting, and dancing all over the field in between plays. OUCH.
The Savannah Bananas have taken over the world. The baseball team is much more than that, with their players flipping, acting, and dancing all over the field in between plays. I find sitting through a traditional baseball game enjoyable, but it’s not a sporting event that I go out of my way to attend. Now that teams like the Savannah Bananas exist, it’s a wildly more entertaining way to watch the sport. And the nation agrees. The team has become very famous, with many other teams, such as the Texas Tailgaters, emerging onto the scene and bringing entertaining baseball to families all over the nation.
With the teams’ rising popularity, some of their star players often make TV appearances, showcasing some of the tricks they perform on the field. That’s precisely what Robert Anthony Cruz, who also goes by Coach Rac, did when he appeared on CNN’s News Central on Thursday, July 24. Except that his TV appearance did not go as planned.
After talking with the co-hosts at first, Cruz had planned to deliver one of his signature backflips, which he does on the field while catching a baseball, before continuing the conversation. But things took a turn for the worse when his face hit the floor, creating a full-on belly flop landing.
The moment it looked so painful. However, it is much more comical given you can hear Co-host Kate Bolduan gasping, “Oh, Jesus,” just moments before Cruz hit the floor.
After the incident went viral on social media, garnering over 5 million views online, Cruz took to social media to explain what went wrong during the backflip. Cruz explains that he was running on limited sleep before entering CNN’s studio, but given that he has done hundreds of backflips in his life, he had no reason to doubt his abilities.
Cruz says that he was rattled when he hit the floor and thought that he could recover from it and would carry on with the interview. However, that hope was shattered when he saw blood dripping from his mouth and chin. After taking a quick exit stage left, Cruz was taken to get medical care, with a few new stitches and a bruised ego.
He ends his story of the incident with the hilarious statement that the “dade lore” is going to go crazy.
Glad he’s all okay and didn’t get any other significant injuries from the moment. And if you watched this and wanted to crack up laughing, have no fear, Cruz gave everyone his blessing to laugh at his pain.
