You Aren’t Prepared To Hear The Nickname Trisha Yearwood Has For Garth Brooks When He’s In The Kitchen

Garth Brooks is apparently a non-recipe-following guru in the kitchen.

Country music singer Garth Brooks has always had a little quirkiness to him. He’s an undoubtable superstar, but he’s a little weird. At least from the perspective of a fan. Garth talks about himself in third person, he gets choked up more than anyone on the planet, and he’s released some unintentionally scary videos over the years.

That’s why people are always asking him where he’s hiding the bodies, in case you didn’t know.

Occasionally, Brooks pulls back the curtain on his own to let fans learn more about him. And other times, his country music superstar wife of 20 years – Trisha Yearwood – also gives some insight into the weird world of Garth Brooks. A couple of years back, the “She’s In Love With The Boy” singer sat down with Kelly Clarkson, and the conversation turned to how Garth is in the kitchen.

Now I can’t say that I’ve ever sat around and wondered how good of a cook Garth Brooks is or isn’t, but I will say that I was happy to hear that he’s apparently skilled enough culinarily to have earned himself a nickname. According to Trisha, her Grammy-winning husband a) prefers to freestyle his own recipes and b) takes a lot of pride in what he whips up:

“He’s pretty good, I wouldn’t call him a perfectionist. He doesn’t follow a recipe, he pretty much like throw things together that maybe go together and then he thinks it’s fabulous and takes a picture of it.” 

Classic Garth Brooks move right there.

You know what’s even better than imagining Garth firing off pictures of things he cooked? The nickname that Trisha Yearwood came up with for her husband for when he’s in the kitchen. Trisha is a fantastic cook in her own right, so it means a lot that she’d recognize her husband’s kitchen persona with a specific nickname. It’s a little bit of an obvious joke when you hear it, but that doesn’t mean it hits any less hard. Trisha was cooking herself when she created this combo-name:

“I call him Gartha Stewart. Because he’s very proud. He’s very impressed. He’s like, ‘Look I made this sandwich, I took a picture of it.’ And I’m like, ‘That’s awesome, honey.'”

Brilliant nickname.

They say that couples that cook together stay together. It certainly seems like Garth and Trisha can both hold their own in the kitchen, and that probably spells to be a positive in their relationship. Even in the face of a lawsuit, Brooks and Yearwood seem to be as close and as in love as ever.

Reports suggest that the controversy surrounding Garth Brooks stemming from sexual assault allegations hasn’t affected their marriage at all, and that they are doing “absolutely fine” as a couple. Yearwood has stuck by Brooks through it all, and back in February, Trisha shared a birthday post for Garth’s b-day, calling him her “forever duet partner” and sharing this vintage picture:
