Tom Segura Parodies Classic Garth Brooks Album Cover To Promote Upcoming Show At Joe Rogan’s Comedy Mothership

Parodying an old, iconic Garth Brooks album cover? I like that. When you hear the word “rivalry,” what first comes to mind? Maybe Duke and North Carolina? Boston Celtics and the Los Angeles Lakers? Tom and Jerry? Whatever it is that you think of, you likely know that there’s nothing more entertaining than watching two things that live to hate one another. And I’d be remiss if I didn’t shine a spotlight on one that, more often than not, goes […] The post Tom Segura Parodies Classic Garth Brooks Album Cover To Promote Upcoming Show At Joe Rogan’s Comedy Mothership first appeared on Whiskey Riff.

And I’d be remiss if I didn’t shine a spotlight on one that, more often than not, goes under the radar.

Garth Brooks and Tom Segura.

It’s the rivalry with quite the backstory. The whole joke that Tom Segura cooked up and directed at the 2-time Grammy winner stems from a video that Garth Brooks released back in 2018 promoting his Stadium Tour. If you happened to miss it, just notice the country music legend’s cold, dead eyes throughout the announcement and stick around for the end where he weirdly says he really likes “getting physical playing music.”

Take a look:

Garth could do himself a favor and just delete that video from his page.

And of course, the other video that gave Tom endless material was Garth’s Welcome to Facebook video from way back in 2014. Shot from a dimly lit hotel room, it’s given us iconic phrases such as  “I like that,” “slick stuff, neat stuff, raw stuff,” “think of it as a conversation” and “let the conversation begin.”

Believe it or not, those two videos sparked an entire movement (and a subsequent Netflix show where Tom Segura really went after Garth Brooks).

Segura and his wife – fellow comedian Christina Pazsitzky (hosts of the Your Mom’s House podcast) – stumbled upon the bizarre announcement video for Garth’s Stadium Tour back in 2018, as well as the Facebook video, and they absolutely ran with the “this guy might be a serial killer” joke. Loyal followers of Segura and Pazsitzky followed the lead of the two comedians and then started bombarding any social media posts of Brooks’ with comments asking:

“Where are the bodies Garth?”

Needless to say, because of that, Garth Brooks has been confirmed to not like Tom Segura, and understandably so. The country star often has to turn off the comments section on his social media posts… which just makes the people behind Tom Segura’s “Where are the bodies?” movement that much more suspicious.

And I will admit that what usually makes a rivalry great is that both sides have high moments. With this Segura-Brooks rivalry, it seems like only Tom has benefited from this whole, ridiculous joke. Garth Brooks and his team just have to deal with the headache that comes from people bombarding everything he does with questions about bodies… and families needing closure.

Despite Garth making it very clear that he’s not a fan of the joke, comedian Tom Segura continues to roll with it. That was very evident in Segura’s Netflix show Bad Thoughts, where he portrayed a Garth-Brooks-type and made him a) a mass kidnapper and murderer and b) a certifiably insane person. And it continues with Tom Segura’s latest promo for an upcoming show at The Comedy Mothership in Austin, Texas.

As you can see, Tom Segura’s team – or those at “The Mothership” – mocked up a promotional image that’s directly parodying Brooks’ Ropin’ The Wind album, which Garth released in 1991. It’s hilarious… and another example of Tom Segura simply not letting up with the Garth Brooks jokes.

Or wait… is that Rex Henley?

Regardless, it’s great work by Tom Segura and his team, and something tells me that Garth Brooks won’t be saying he “likes that.”The post Tom Segura Parodies Classic Garth Brooks Album Cover To Promote Upcoming Show At Joe Rogan’s Comedy Mothership first appeared on Whiskey Riff.
