Tom Morello Slams Trump and I.C.E. At Boston Calling Festival

This is what it means to be a rockstar: using your platform to freely and comically express political angst. That’s exactly what Tom Morello did during his set at Boston Calling 2025 music festival.

On Sunday, the Rage Against the Machine guitarist put on a mega show at the Harvard University Athletic Complex. Not one shy of a political outburst, throughout his set, Morello took a few digs at Donald Trump.

As he introduced his cover of Bruce Springsteen’s “The Ghost of Tom Joad,” the guitarist slammed Trump for his callous attacks on The Boss. Also, it’s claimed at one stage Morello performed in front of a backdrop that read, “Fuck Trump.” Pretty ballsy, yet iconic stuff if you ask me.

Morello says,

“Bruce is going after Trump because Bruce, his whole life, he’s been about truth, justice, democracy, equality. And Trump is mad at him because Bruce draws a bigger audience. Fuck that guy.”

But that’s not the end of his outrage, he also had tape added to the back of his guitar that read, “Fuck I.C.E.”
