So sweet.
Ryan Bingham has been working on a new album and he recently spoke with People about the new music he has in the works, which will be his first record since his 2023 project Watch Out for the Wolf. Bingham has been rather busy in his personal life since then, marrying Yellowstone co-star Hassie Harrison in October of 2024, and she has been a creative muse for him as he’s been writing for this project.
Of course, the two met on the set of the hit series Yellowstone, where Bingham played a ranch hand named Walker, and Harrison played a barrel racer named Laramie.
Bingham says his wife has kept him laughing, and helped bring a “a spark and a fire back” that has allowed him to really have fun with his writing and music in general again:
“She brings out this other side of me from when I was a kid, that, depending on how you grow up or whatever, it can be easy to lose some of that joy in your life. The world can kind of beat you down. She’s really brought a spark and a fire back in me that’s letting me have a lot more fun with it.”
He added that you will hear a lot of her influence on this record, including some love songs, which will be a stark contrast to some of the “sad cowboy songs” he’s made a name on, and that I really love too. Though, it will be fun to hear a new side of him and it sounds like this will certainly be different than any other album he’s ever put out:
“We laugh a lot, and so there’s some pretty sweet love songs in there that are fun and still meaningful. But there’s another thing. And she’s right. I’ve got plenty of sad cowboy songs in the can.
So to have this whole fresh new batch of music being really positive… it’s uplifting for me, it makes me feel good when I’m singing these songs. I’m excited to have that opportunity to go out and play these on the road.”
Consider me intrigued… I think this is already sounding like his most interesting project yet.
But in terms of their marriage outside of professional commitments and inspiration, Bingham says they stay grounded in knowing that they’re on the same team and “in it together.”
The good news is, we won’t have to wait much longer to hear all of the new tunes Harrison has inspired, and Ryan says they plan to release the album in 2026, which is right around the corner now.
Like I said, it’s been two years since his last full-length album, but in September, Bingham released a song called “The Lucky Ones,” which will be on the forthcoming record. Written by his longtime bandmate and close friend, Cody Huggins, “The Lucky Ones” details the struggles of love and loss, seemingly a road warrior anthem for those who are chasing dreams.
If this is anything like the rest of the music, we’re in for some good stuff next year.
