Riley Green Teases Unreleased Heartbreaker “My Way” & We Need The Full Version ASAP

Back to heartbreak central… and I’m here for it.

Following his first third career #1 on the Billboard Airplay Chart this weekend with “Worst Way,” which is his first solo #1 on the Billboard Country Airplay chart, Riley Green is back to teasing good old fashioned sad country songs. He shared one on Instagram last night called “My Way,” which finds him wishing the relationship had ended differently and wanting everything to go back to how it was when it was good.

The opening line is my favorite, but I think this one really shows off Riley’s natural ability to write sad country songs… my favorite kind:

We’d have a John Wayne western on,
that we weren’t watching anyway

It’s unclear who the writers are on this one, I’m sure Riley’s one of them and there might one or two other co-writers, but I think we might have more new music coming from him this year and I can’t wait.

I also love that little guitar riff and melody, and this song is already a winner in my book. Knowing the rest of Riley’s catalog, I have to imagine that he won’t change it up too much when he cuts in the studio, and it certainly sounds like a hit to me and I need the full version ASAP:

Riley has released two great albums in the last two years, Ain’t My Last Rodeo and Don’t Mind If I Do, and he’s cementing himself as one of the best in mainstream country with the unique ability to honor the roots of country music and that classic sounds most of us first fell in love with, while also giving the content of his songs a modern twist with relatable subject matter that is simply timeless.
