Riley Green is now a mega star in the country music world. The good ole Alabama boy has blown up over the last year with his duets with Ella Langley. “You Look Like You Love Me” skyrocketed his name among mainstream country fans, and then, when the pair followed that duet up with “Don’t Mind If I Do,” that began the speculation online that he and Langley were involved in a romantic relationship.
The momentum continued for Green with the release of “Worst Way,” which just scored him his first solo number-one hit on country radio. “Worst Way was also a solo write for Green (pretty uncommon in mainstream country music these days), which made the accomplishment even more special.
But with successes like this comes a higher level of fame, making it hard for Riley Green to leave the house without being recognized. While co-hosting the Country Countdown USA with Lon Helton, Green touches on how fame is not his favorite part of the music industry.
“It’s not my favorite part of the industry. I miss being a regular guy. But it’s a small price to pay for the opportunities I’ve gotten.”
Riley Green is so over being recognized that he’s getting out of town and recently listed his Nashville home for sale. Green, who has spoken on his passion for land in the past, shared that he’s not leaving Nashville for good but just moving further outside of the city. This is a move we’ve seen many country artists make: to live a slower-paced life on more land without being fully unplugged from the Nashville scene.
“I’m buying another place further out of town, and the neighbors are further away. I’m getting more land.”
His house, which is listed for sale, is stunning, to say the least, and it’s pretty cool to say you bought it from the Duckman.
However, Riley Green has found a loophole to being unrecognizable, giving him a short-lived feeling of wanting to be a regular guy again.
“I hurt a lot of people’s feelings when I’ve shaved my mustache off. What’s nice is I can walk around and nobody notices me. Every guy goes through this, I ended up with a mustache, and it became a thing. I just wanted to get some sun, so I shaved it off. I guess I have to grow it back.”
Too bad that growing it back means that he has to go back to being recognized in public.
While his time as an unrecognizable celebrity was short-lived without the stache, he’s already got a new one coming in, and the ladies are happy about that.
