Arsenal are set to confirm several transfers this week, but they aren’t set to stop. The club are now advancing talks to sign an attacking star.
The Gunners have held encouraging conversations with the representatives of Eberechi Eze as they explore a potential move for the Crystal Palace star, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.
The 27-year-old attacking midfielder is reportedly open to joining the Gunners, and sources suggest Arsenal are actively working on the deal behind the scenes.
Romano shared on Sunday via ‘X’ that the North London club had “positive contacts” with Eze’s camp over the weekend. While Arsenal haven’t yet made a formal offer, the level of interest is growing — and a decision on whether to proceed could come soon.
Adding to the noise, The Telegraph’s Sam Dean has confirmed that Arsenal have been assessing the feasibility of a deal, especially with the knowledge that Eze has a £60 million+ release clause written into his contract. That clause makes the England international a tempting option for Arsenal, who are looking to strengthen their attacking midfield and wide areas. While Eze is currently valued at €55 million on Transfermarkt, any deal this summer would likely require Arsenal to meet the full release clause amount — reportedly closer to £68 million — to secure his services.
Eze could add vital depth to both the central and left-sided attacking roles. With Gabriel Martinelli and Leandro Trossard already competing for minutes on the left flank, Eze’s ability to drift wide or operate more centrally would give Mikel Arteta tactical flexibility — especially in matches where creativity and ball retention are key. His dribbling and one-on-one ability could also offer a different dynamic when unlocking deep blocks, a frequent challenge for Arsenal last season.
Eze, who scored 8 goals and provided 8 assists in the Premier League last season, brings creativity, flair, and the ability to glide past defenders — attributes that would fit well in Arteta’s setup. His versatility is another appealing factor; he can operate centrally or on the left, offering an alternative to Martin Ødegaard and additional depth in the attacking third.
With Andrea Berta leading Arsenal’s transfer operations this summer, the club is taking a more targeted and strategic approach in the market. The Eze interest reflects Arsenal’s desire to sign Premier League-proven talent who can make an immediate impact in a squad aiming to go one better in the title race next season.
