Report: New Arsenal signing waiting in London and set to fly to Signapore to join squad

Arsenal are on the verge of announcing the signing of Spanish centre-back Christian Mosquera from Valencia, with a deal worth around €20 million now fully agreed between the clubs. According to Marca, the Gunners are simply waiting on the completion of minor documentation issues before making the transfer official.

The 23-year-old has already travelled to London—arriving last Tuesday—and has been staying there with his parents and agent while final steps are completed. During his time in England, Mosquera has undergone the usual onboarding processes, including posing in the Arsenal shirt and recording club media duties. Interestingly, a photo from one of those sessions was reportedly leaked early by the club, hinting that the move has been wrapped up for some time.

Mikel Arteta’s side flew out to Singapore on Sunday to begin their pre-season tour, with upcoming matches against AC Milan (23 July) and Newcastle United (27 July) at the Singapore National Stadium. The plan is for Mosquera to join up with the squad in Asia as soon as his paperwork clears and that could happen at any moment.

This signing reflects Andrea Berta’s active involvement in reshaping Arsenal’s defensive options ahead of the new season. Mosquera, known for his composure on the ball and athletic presence, is expected to bolster depth behind William Saliba and Gabriel Magalhães.

Asked about Mosquera in a recent press conference, Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta declined to comment as he has not yet been announced as a player in his squad. However, he did address the transfer market currently being conducted by the new sporting director, Andrea Berta: “The ideal situation would be to have everything (the transfer market) wrapped up on the first day of preseason. We’ve done very, very well so far. I’m very satisfied with the way the club is supporting the team’s needs and improvements.”

If the final stages proceed smoothly, fans can expect official confirmation within hours—just in time for Mosquera to potentially make his debut in red and white during the Singapore Tour Competition.
