Having taken a good and solid Premier League victory over Champions League returnees Newcastle United in our last Premier League clash, Arsenal fans could be forgiven for thinking that the media believe we are entering another international break and lull given some of the stories doing the rounds on the transfer window speculation rumour mill.
Whether it is by design, or pure clickbait laziness, all Gunners fans right now know that we should be talking about a steady start to both our domestic and European Champions League campaign, or even the fact that we have just tied down William Saliba to a new five year deal, and reports claim that negotiations are progressing well with Bukayo Saka to tie him down to a deal that would run to a similar summer of 2030 length as the club continues to look at further improve and longer term success surrounded by our best players, knowing that they are on contracts that would also warn off potential suitors from trying low ball division based offers to turn their heads.
Given our spending over the summer, fans who like a flutter may take January easy and turn their attention to live roulette strategy tips in an effort to win big on online gaming given their growing popularity and naturally, we all know the club will be investigating options for further strengthening in the January transfer window and then the proceeding summer, but we have Spanish outlets trying to claim that we are seeing if we can do a deal for Real Madrid unproven talent Arda Gular.
Reports state that Los Blancos have no intention to sell whatsoever as they have not made their mind up on his future development curve, but these reports are throwing out estimated valuations of 150 million Euros even though he is currently the quintessential ‘project’ player who understandably has little to know consistency value to him as he continues his development.
Guler is only 20 year’s old, and the Turkish lad has all the potential in the world, but talk of 150 million Euros suggests a very quiet news day in the office.
Very similar is true given the reports that have linked us with an interest in Barcelona La Masia academy talent Dro Fernandez. The 17 year old made his debut for the club in last weekend’s La Liga victory over Real Sociedad, and as if by magic we are now being linked with an interest alongside the likes of Chelsea, Manchester City, Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain.
The only real story seems to be that with the potential talent already having a contract that runs until the summer of 2027, Barca are planning, and are in talks, of giving him a new deal when he turns 18 given that they have been impressed with his development and progress so far. I am sure that as a club we are aware of him and are tracking his development as we look to the future, but do the media really need to pretend that having now made his debut, we are suddenly primed to enter into a bidding war for a player that could easily disappear as quickly as he got some headlines on his debut?
Stories like this have mild interest when nothing else is going on, but there is enough going on that matters right now and whilst fans should maybe park the names for the future, nobody should be doing anymore than that right now – other maybe searching for them on Football Manager.
