Report: Arsenal set to seal £15million deal as Andrea Berta continues hot streak

Arsenal are closing in on the signing of another first team addition on what looks set to be one of the busiest summers the club have ever seen, and new man Andrea Berta is leading the charge.

The latest deal nearing completion is Valencia defender Cristhian Mosquera, with the club aiming to finalise the deal in time for the defender to join their pre-season tour of Singapore and Hong Kong.

The Gunners are set to fly to Asia this Saturday, and there is growing confidence that Mosquera, a Spain youth international, will be part of the travelling squad. Talks have progressed swiftly in recent days, driven by Berta’s influence behind the scenes, as Arsenal seek to bolster their defensive options ahead of the 2025/26 campaign.

Valencia were initially holding out for a fee in the region of £17 million, but The Telegraph reports that Arsenal have successfully negotiated that figure down. The final elements of the transfer are now being ironed out, with optimism in north London that Mosquera’s arrival will be confirmed later this week.

Mosquera, 21, impressed in La Liga last season with his composure on the ball and defensive maturity. Standing at 6ft 2in, the Colombian-born defender is known for his reading of the game and had attracted attention from several top European clubs.

Should the move go through as expected, Mosquera would become the latest in a series of targeted signings led by Berta as Arsenal look to add quality and depth across the pitch. Fans will be eager to see how the young defender integrates into Mikel Arteta’s system during the upcoming tour.

Mosquera will predominantly act as a backup and rotation option for William Saliba, but he can also cover at left centre-back and right-back.
