Nicole Kidman Reportedly Feeling “Refreshed & Optimistic” After Finalizing Divorce From Keith Urban

Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban shocked the world when they announced they were splitting up and headed for divorce at the end of 2025. Kidman first filed for divorce on September 30th, 2025, in Nashville, Tennessee. They had been separated and living apart since the beginning of the summer when Keith moved out. According to several sources, Kidman was trying to save the marriage, while Urban wanted out. Either way, it’s sad to see this nearly two-decade marriage come to an end.

Of course, you never know what’s really going on behind closed doors, but the two of them always appeared very much in love, and they often spoke publicly about their seemingly strong marriage and life together. They share two daughters, Sunday Rose, 17, and Faith Margaret, 14, and it’s heartbreaking all around, especially for their kids.

They were married for 19 years, and first met in 2005 after meeting at the G’Day USA gala in Los Angeles. Urban talked about his wife’s “otherworldly era,” saying he was incredibly nervous to speak to her and felt like he was meeting a “real-life princess.” He eventually worked up the nerve to ask for her number, though it still took him a while to actually call her.

Once he did, their connection was instant, and the rest is history. They were married the following year in 2006.

At the start of 2026, Kidman and Urban finalized their divorce, and it appears that the parties were not looking for a fight and were more concerned about their children in the split. Which, in my opinion, is how it should be.

Court documents state that each party is responsible for their own legal fees and expenses. In addition to laying out the schedule for when each parent will get their kids, they are both required to “behave with each other and each child so as to provide a loving, stable, consistent and nurturing relationship with the child even though they are divorced.”

The parenting agreement also states:

“They will not speak badly of each other or the members of the family of the other parent. They will encourage each child to continue to love the other parent and be comfortable in both families.”

While it’s heartbreaking to know that this relationship did not stand the test of time, a source close to Nicole Kidman says she is feeling good and optimistic about what lies ahead after finalizing her divorce.

After spending the holiday and starting the year in Australia, the source shared with PEOPLE:

“She is refreshed and optimistic about the new year. They’re all settling back into their routine. Things have been calm.”

The source added that Kidman is looking forward to all that she has professionally coming up this year.
