Unemployment numbers going way up this week.

Regardless of how you feel about Charlie Kirk’s political views, it should go without saying that shooting somebody because you disagree with them should never be acceptable in the United States of America. Silencing those with opposing views is one of the key components of fascism, which is what those who oppose Charlie’s views claim to be fighting against.

That’s why it was so tragic when Kirk was assassinated on Wednesday during a stop on his The American Comeback tour at Utah Valley University.

Graphic video from the tragic scene showed a single shot striking Kirk in the neck before he fell to the ground and the crowd went running.

A suspect named Tyler Robinson, a 22-year old from Utah, was finally taken into the custody about 33 hours later.

Kirk, whose full name was Charles James Kirk, was an American conservative political activist, author, and media personality. He was famously known for being a founder of Turning Point USA, a nonprofit organization that advocates for conservative politics on high school, college, and university campuses. And he was also a devout Christian, often speaking about his faith and belief in Biblical values.

The popular political pundit was famous for traveling around to various college campuses, speaking to students on political topics. Given his outward right-wing views, his events often attracted many left-wing attendees anxious to debate or argue, and he was often the subject of protests and criticism from the left, though he encouraged thoughtful debate over violence and arguments.

Unfortunately, because of the times we live in, there were plenty of people who took to social media to celebrate the horrific assassination simply because they disagreed with his political views. Plenty of companies have let employees go, and had to release statements denouncing comments made by their employees, over the past few days.

And Office Depot is now among the companies forced to do damage control after employees at one store refused to print a poster for a vigil being held for Kirk.

According to video shared by Michigan attorney general candidate Matthew DePerno, the Kalamazoo Republican Party placed an order for a poster for a vigil later that evening. But employees at the store refused to print the poster, claiming that they “don’t print propaganda.” When the man tried to explain that it was for a memorial, the employees were unpersuaded:

“It’s still propaganda, I’m sorry.”

And if you’re wondering what the “propaganda” looked like, it was simply a poster with a picture of Charlie Kirk that said “The Legendary Charlie Kirk, 1993-2025.”

DePerno says that he then took the order to FedEx, who apologized for Office Depot’s conduct and printed the poster for free.

Well as you can imagine, the backlash against Office Depot was pretty immediate, and the company quickly responded to announce that the associate involved had been fired.

“We are deeply concerned by the incident that occurred at Store 3382 in Portage, Michigan. The behavior displayed by our associate is completely unacceptable and insensitive, violates our company policies, and does not reflect the values we uphold at Office Depot. We sincerely apologize to the customer affected and to our community for this regrettable situation.

Upon learning of the incident, we immediately reached out to the customer to address their concerns and seek to fulfill the order to their satisfaction. We also launched an immediate internal review and, as a result, the associate involved is no longer with the organization.

We are committed to reinforcing training with all team members to ensure our standards of respect, integrity, and customer service are upheld at every location. Our customers and communities deserve nothing less.”

Now, it seems that there were at least two associates involved in the decision not to print the poster, so it’s not clear which one was terminated or whether they both were let go. But it seems that companies are acting quickly these days, desperately trying to protect their own reputations and distance themselves from employees who are choosing to celebrate the horrific assassination. The post Office Depot Fires Employee Who Refused To Print Poster For Charlie Kirk Vigil Because It Was “Propaganda” first appeared on Whiskey Riff.
