Scumbags trying to ruin the party.
Labor Day weekend is a big party weekend here in Nashville (and everywhere) as people celebrate the unofficial end of summer. But one restaurant ran into problems when some lowlifes pulled off a heist heading into the holiday weekend.
Rosepepper Cantina, a popular Mexican restaurant in East Nashville, shared video last week of thieves breaking into the restaurant in the early morning hours of Wednesday, August 27 and stealing $1,200 worth of alcohol.
The restaurant asked for help identifying the criminals, revealing that because their insurance deductible is so high they weren’t able to file a claim and would be forced to eat the cost of the stolen alcohol:
“Owning and operating a small mom and pop shop is incredibly challenging at the best of times and of course theft is a sad but inevitable part of being in business but man, we gotta say…this really sucks. This one really hurts. We’re just trying to survive out here and this one really, really hurts.
If anybody recognizes any of the people in this post please reach out to us at rosepeppercantina@gmail.com and if you were maybe planning to go out this weekend and have a cocktail or some nice cheese dip, we would be beyond grateful if you would consider coming by to support Rosepepper while we try to recoup some of what was taken.”
The restaurant also shared that while they had identified at least two of the people involved in the theft, they were unable to replace the tequila ahead of the long weekend – so they were going to be forced to make do with what they had and hope for the best to get through the holiday:
Well luckily for them, Nashville showed up.
Yesterday evening, Rosepepper shared an update and it sounds like they underestimated the amount of support that the community was going to show them:
“Our sincere apologies, y’all. Tonight was a tough one for us. Y’all showed up in such a massive way and we were unprepared. We did our best but we know we fell short number of times tonight and for that we are truly sorry. We thank you for being so patient and promise we’ll do better next time. Thank you from the very bottom of our hearts for the love and support.”
Luckily it sounds like everybody was understanding of the problems, and praised Rosepepper for powering through:
“You have our unconditional love. Signed, East Nashville”
“We love and support you. If anyone didn’t understand the assignment that’s on them.”
“It’s commendable to apologize but you should never have to apologize for being “too busy”. Your amazing margaritas have set a standard for me”
You love to see it.
As of right now, it doesn’t appear that any arrests have been made, but hopefully they’re able to track the scumbags down soon. In the meantime, it sounds like a good excuse for Nashville to go out and get some margaritas and queso…The post Nashville Community Steps Up To Support Local Restaurant After Thieves Steal $1,200 Worth Of Tequila first appeared on Whiskey Riff.
