A song honoring the homeland of their wives.
Muscadine Bloodline is coming out of the gate with a heartfelt love song for the next chapter of music after And What Was Left Behind. At the start of 2025, the Alabama boys announced that this year would be their biggest year yet, with the plan of giving fans not one but two records.
“God willing, 2025 is gunna be our biggest year yet. Our biggest headlining tour to start the year, a new record soon, some big festivals this summer, the biggest tour we’ve been a part of in the fall, and another record at the end of the year. (TWO RECORDS IN ONE YEAR???…..YES)”
In April, they gifted fans the first half of that promise, building off their 2024 record, The Coastal Plain. And What Was Left Behind took listeners on a journey through the southern part of Alabama and the stomping grounds that raised both Charlie Muncaster and Gary Stanton. With songs like “Chickasaw Church of Christ,” “Hittin’ My Stride,” “Ain’t For Sale,” and more, the record told a story from top to bottom of finding themselves, being tempted by evil, and growing into the upstanding men.
However, now the boys who scream loud and proud their roots are in Alabama are about to take fans on an adventure to somewhere new…
“For the last 3 years, our creative process could be summed up in the phrase ‘write what you know.’ That’s why the songs of our records ‘Teenage Dixie’ & ‘The Coastal Plain and What Was Left Behind’ feel so authentic because they were lived. It’s been the most fulfilling chapter of the story so far.
What we have learned about ourselves, as creators, is our love to take the listeners to a place and paint our town narrative of it through songs in a cohesive album form. A common theme of exploring ideas and trying our best to evolve the sound and not make the same record twice. Which brings us to the next chapter… South Mississippi.
Although our roots are planted deep in Alabama, we have a lot of ties to the Magnolia State. Charlie has family from Lucedale, same for Gary in Laurel. Gary went to college in Hattiesburg for 4 years, and most importantly, we both fell in love and married girls from South Mississippi. Ashley is from Poplarville, and Mallory is from Meridian.
Not gunna give it all away, but if you’re heading west on I-20 from Alabama and you cross the state line, the first town you come to is Meridian. Felt like the perfect place to start as we creatively depart from Alabama for a minute and take you on a journey through the Pinebelt down Highway 59.
One last hint, 3 to describe what’s coming next: Bonefire Music, Sweater Weather and Love.”
Oh, this sounds like it’s going to be one helluva project.
The three words they left fans with were the perfect lead into “My Meridian.” The heartwarming love song is a nod to the Magnolia State and how much it means to both of their wives. This tune feels especially close to Charlie’s heart, given his wife, Mallory, grew up in Meridian, MS, but as the two sing the tender words, you can tell that it strikes a chord among both men.
The lyrics show appreciation for all that their wives do for them, and how much these boys love and adore their spouses.
“Well, it’s safe to say I should’ve met you sooner
I guess I reckon it was in due time
Skip the 25 years that it took me to find ya
Lady of the Lauderdale County line
My meridian, my sweet meridian
You done a number on this heart of mine
Oh, my my meridian, my sweet meridian
I’m gonna love you till the day I die”
It sounds like the second record of 2025 is going to take listeners on a journey of love through the state that raised and formed both of their life partners. I am here for a heartfelt, warm, and fuzzy feeling album this fall and winter from the Alabama boys, and “My Meridian” is a stellar preview of that feeling.
Turn this one all the way up.
