Miranda Lambert & Chris Stapleton To Release New Duet “A Song To Sing”

FINALLY.

This morning, Chris Stapleton and Miranda Lambert announced that they have a new duet dropping this Friday, July 11th called “A Song To Sing”:

It will also head to country radio as an official single on July 14, which is really cool and I’m sure is destined to be a hit with two powerhouses like Chris and Miranda on one song.

They have worked together before, specifically on the song “What Am I Gonna Do,” which was the opening track to Chris’ 2023 Higher album and finds him lamenting the end of a relationship and can’t stop thinking about what he’s going to do if he ever moves on from this girl. They also teased a tune called “Somebody Winds Up Pregnant” before, which I’m still holding out for, but I’m so excited they’re teaming up for a duet I don’t even care what it is…

“A Song To Sing” was written by Chris and Miranda along with Jesse Frasure and Jenee Fleenor, and promises to call back to the classic country duets we all know in love in terms of its classic sound and timeless sentiment.

Miranda says Chris was the perfect person to sing this song with, because he and his wife, Morgane, understand what it’s like to have a very special kind of love:

“Chris understands this emotion from the inside out, because he and Morgane have both lived it. To have someone so soulful and willing to go into the heart of the feelings, to share the pull of the road and creative life – and what that means when you love someone with every bit of your being is next level.

When we finished it, we both knew we wanted to release it, to share it with everyone.”

The two longtime friends and songwriting partners have a combined 14 GRAMMY, 33 Country Music Association and 59 Academy of Country Music awards, and have been two of the biggest and most influential acts in the genre for the last 10-15 years. It’s well past time they put out duet, and seeing as it was produced by the great Dave Cobb, I have no doubt that it’s going to be fantastic.

They’re pretty much my dream duo, and of all the mainstream acts that have been doing it as long as each of them, they both have such a staunch commitment to keeping the heart of country music alive and honoring the greats who came before them and paved a way for future artists to continue to carry the torch.
