Lotta wild animals on Broadway.
You never really know what you’re going to see on Broadway in Nashville. The famous party strip has gotten pretty wild over the past decade or so, with millions of visitors flocking to Music City every year not just for the music but to get absolutely hammered on Broadway.
With dozens of bars to choose from, and no cover charge, on any given night the street is packed with people bouncing around from place to place, downing $15 beers and generally just doing things that they wouldn’t do back home. Because hey, anything goes on Broadway.
It’s a great place to people watch if you can actually handle being down there in the crowd. But apparently it’s not just people you have to watch out for…
According to WKRN, a man was attacked by a gorilla on Broadway over the weekend. Ok, obviously not a real gorilla, but by a man in a gorilla suit.
The attack apparently happened around 4:45 AM on Sunday, which is about 2 hours after all the bars had closed, at the intersection of 2nd Avenue and Broadway around the Hard Rock Cafe. The victim reportedly told officers that he was attacked by two men, one wearing a gorilla suit and one in a Hawaiian shirt, and was punched, kicked and put into a headlock before the attackers ran off with…his shoes.
Officers were able to spot the duo walking across the John Seigenthaler Pedestrian Bridge downtown, just a few blocks away from the attack. Because apparently it’s hard to blend in with the crowd when you’re wearing a gorilla suit and a Hawaiian shirt. Not exactly the best costume to wear if you’re going to commit a crime and try to go incognito. Going to stick out like a sore thumb, which makes me think these guys aren’t exactly professional criminals and are just two idiots who happened to own a gorilla suit.
Well the men were taken into custody, and the guy in the gorilla suit was identified as 18-year old Xavier Rhodes, while his friend in the Hawaiian shirt was identified as 22-year old Sherrod Robinson. The men were charged with felony robbery and booked into the Davidson County Jail, but both have since been released on bond.
Classic Nashville. You never really know what you’re going to see on Broadway, but this should also be a lesson that you probably shouldn’t be out on Broadway after the bars close. That’s when the really wild animals come out, apparently.
I don’t go to Broadway much, but it seems like things really got crazy this weekend.
If you missed it, over the weekend a friend of one popular TikTok star was also arrested on livestream – and police are warning that if you’re going to come to Broadway for content, you better behave.
If you’re not familiar with Joshua Block, known on TikTok as World of T-shirts, the controversial content creator started out selling t-shirts and giving tours of New York City but now is more known for pretty much getting blackout drunk all the time and crashing out on livestream.
Block, who has autism, frequently has followers concerned for his well-being, because it appears that he drinks nonstop and has even admitted that he’s an alcoholic who can’t control his drinking, often getting so drunk that he’s puking on his livestream and shaking as he goes through withdrawals while causing chaos wherever he goes.

Unfortunately with internet fame also comes the trolls, and there are quite a few people out there who just like to get a reaction out of Block for content, often causing him to lose his mind when they tell him to “put the fries in the bag.” In fact, he was even seen on TV during a recent Mets game yelling at some people who were trolling him as he was sitting behind home plate:

And not only are there trolls who like to try to get a reaction out of him, but there are also people who try to use Block’s internet following for their own gain and enable his drinking and destructive behavior rather than trying to protect him or get the help he needs. It’s a pretty sad situation.
Recently, Block made international headlines when he had a meltdown in Japan after something set him off, repeatedly slamming his head into a wall before being detained and talked down by police.
And this weekend, Block and his crew were in Nashville, which just seems like a terrible idea and a recipe for disaster.
Spoiler alert: It was.
Of course while he was partying on Broadway, there were plenty of trolls who recognized him and began yelling at Block to “put the fries in the bag” in order to set him off. And one of his friends that he was with apparently decided to confront one of the trolls, chasing him down Broadway and throwing a drink on him.

Nashville police quickly took the friend into custody, and issued a warning to Block as his buddy was being arrested.

The cop was clearly familiar with Block and his antics, warning him that they weren’t going to tolerate him chasing people who were attempting to get a reaction from him:
“I’ve been watching your schtick for the last couple of years. I know who you are. Everyone down here pretty much knows who you are. That stuff doesn’t fly down here in Tennessee on Broadway, you understand?
I’ve seen it 150 times… you charging people after they say ‘Put the fries in the bag.’ Down here, it’s disorderly conduct. I’m letting you know now. If that’s the case down here in Tennessee, I’ll put you in handcuffs.”

It wasn’t all bad for the Captain in Nashville: Before his encounter with the cops, Block was also on stage at Tootsie’s performing with the band.

What a disaster. It’s honestly sad to see that he doesn’t have anybody around him to help him, but instead is surrounded by people who take advantage of him for clout and internet views.
But it sounds like Nashville police aren’t going to let it happen on Broadway. The post Man In A Gorilla Suit Arrested For Attacking A Man & Stealing His Shoes On Broadway In Nashville first appeared on Whiskey Riff.
