Madonna’s “Ray Of Light” Reawakens in Beatport’s Global Remix Contest

Beatport has launched a new Global Remix Challenge centered around Madonna’s era-defining hit “Ray of Light.” 

Created in collaboration with Warner Music Group and Madonna herself, the competition invites music producers across the globe to rework the iconic 1998 track using official stems provided by the “Queen of Pop” and her longtime producer, William Orbit.

The challenge lands as Veronica Electronica, a long-rumored companion remix companion album for Ray of Light, is being confirmed for release. Once shelved during the peak of the original album’s success, Veronica Electronica will arrive with reimagined club edits by legends like Peter Rauhofer, Sasha, BT and Victor Calderone as well as a fresh cut by Orbit himself.

The original offering signaled a pivotal moment in Madonna’s evolution, a leap into the sounds of ambient electronica, trance and techno that ultimately altered the trajectory of mainstream pop. Infused with spiritual lyricism and Orbit’s celestial production, the album earned four Grammy Awards, including Best Dance Recording.

The contest’s prize pool is valued at over $12,000 and the grand prize includes a suite of high-end studio hardware and software products. One lucky winner will also receive a signed “Ray of Light” vinyl from Madonna herself.

To enter, producers must download the official stems from Beatportal, where they can also redeem a free Excite Audio Bloom Drum Machine Lite plugin using the code “rayoflight.” Completed remixes must be submitted via LabelRadar by September 25th and the winning remix will be announced on October 15th.
