Fine dining – Kid Rock style.

Last month, the country rocker announced that he getting back into the restaurant business, after previously owning a restaurant called Made In Detroit in his home state of Michigan. Kid Rock’s last restaurant closed back in 2020 after he decided not to renew his licensing agreement two years later after the restaurant came under fire from Al Sharpton’s National Action Network.

As Kid Rock has said, his last experience in the restaurant business taught him to “go where you’re celebrated, not tolerated.” And so he decided that for his next restaurant, he would be taking his business to Nashville, where he already operates a massively successful bar on Broadway with Kid Rock’s Honky Tonk.

For the new restaurant, Kid Rock announced that he would be partnering Joe Muer Seafood, an upscale restaurant chain that started in Kid Rock’s home state of Michigan before expanding to Tennessee, and rebranding their Nashville location as The Detroit Cowboy.

And with the restaurant now open, Kid Rock is showing off some of his own touches on The Detroit Cowboy, which brings his own brand of “fine dining.”

“The Detroit Cowboy isn’t just a restaurant—it’s a culinary ride like no other, where like-minded folks who love this country can dine in style. Whether you wear a bow tie, a bolo tie, or no tie—it’s all good.

I re-designed this place to share some of my favorite milestones and personal artifacts—cool gifts and mementos from legends like Johnny Cash, Loretta Lynn, Dolly Parton, Eminem, Bob Seger, and Motown—to name a few, plus a few wild stories of my own as well as nods to musical heroes like Aretha, Stevie and both Hanks of course!

The Detroit Cowboy is the only place on earth where Detroit grit and Nashville swagger collide for the finest dining hangout. The Vicaris and Joe Muer know fine dining, I know how to hang pictures, create a vibe, and make things fun!… all while still holding two middle fingers up high for the haters!”

To put it simply, I am here to take the foo-foo out of fine dining.”

Honestly, I’m not a big seafood guy – and I’m not big on fine dining either – but this place has me intrigued.

It seems like upscale food in a restaurant where you won’t be out of place if you’re not wearing a jacket or a suit, which is exactly my kind of place. And along with the seafood, the menu also features options like a 32-oz tomahawk ribeye, veal chop parmigiano, or lamb chops, along with craft cocktails and beer.

The restaurant also includes “The Eagles Nest,” a private dining room billed as “the South’s funkiest, most exclusive fine dining spot, complete with its own private entrance, bathroom, and just enough high-class white trash to make you feel like you’ve been personally invited to party with the man himself. Think of it as Kid Rock’s personal bro cave, but with taxidermy, linen napkins and bone-in ribeyes the size of small motorcycles.”

Looks like I’m gonna have to check this place out, eat a steak and drink a few beers, just so I can properly review it. I’ll report back later, but from what I’m hearing so far, it actually sounds pretty awesome. The post Kid Rock Says His New Upscale Nashville Restaurant, Detroit Cowboy, Is A Place Where “Like-Minded Folks Who Love This Country Can Dine In Style” first appeared on Whiskey Riff.
