Oh, to be a kid spending summer vacation ripping lips at the local pond.
Prepare to meet your new, favorite Instagram account. It’s called “FishingwithDaBoys84,” and it follows the adventures of a boy named Joe who loves nothing more than fishing. I’m not sure how old he is exactly, but I can tell you this: He’s old enough to reel in a big ol’ fish whenever he so pleases.
I could give you some insight on the rising star in the fishing world, or I could just direct you to Joe’s very own bio that he posted to his Instagram account just a couple of days ago. Joe apparently also goes by “Juicy,” loves sports, and set out to clear any confusion about whether or not Jack Black is his father:
“I’m Joe but my friends call me Juicy. When I’m not at school or fishing, you can catch me playing football, golf, or lacrosse. I love da Bears, Huskers, and Cubs. My dream is to meet Caleb Williams and Jason Kelce. People say I look like Ham from ‘The Sandlot,’ Thurman from ‘Bad Santa,’ and Jelly Roll. I also can confirm Jack Black is not my dad. I’d like to thank my Uncle Danny who gave me my first fishing rod two years ago and kicked off my love for fishing.”
That’s the kind of content I love to see.
And that just goes to show how instrumental a simple gift can be in someone’s life. Give a man a fish and you’ll feed him for a day, but give him a fishing pole and he’ll become the next internet sensation. Joe is currently going viral online, and none of that would have happened if his Uncle Danny wouldn’t have gifted him a fishing pole.
This is the video in particular that’s really taken off like a rocket ship. It’s almost garnered 500,000 likes on Instagram and it’s been met with plenty of love and congratulatory messages online. And it’s pretty simple. Joe caught himself a fish, and he was proud of himself, so he told everyone (the internet) about it:
“What’s up boys? Just caught this fish at my local pond and I’m lowkey so proud of myself. It’s the biggest fish I’ve ever caught.”
He should be lowkey proud of himself.
That’s the video that’s really put Joe the curly-haired fishing kid on the map, but trust me, he’s got plenty of other great content. One of my other favorites is one that he titled “School is not fun,” and it basically consisted of him heading to school, and already being excited to be able to fish once he got out.
It’s very relatable for us adults… you just obviously substitute work for school:
10 out of 10. No notes whatsoever. The kid is a star.
He already knows at a very young age that a bad day of fishing beats a good day of doing anything else, and that’s special. Think of all the kids nowadays rushing home from school to play Fortnite, or participating in whatever other video game or TikTok trend is the hottest thing. Joe is trying to single handedly keep the “kids playing outside” genre alive. And I respect the hell out of him for it.
It appears that so does his mom, who took over one of the account’s posts to share a nice message about Joe’s interest in fishing and his sudden ride on social media:
“Joe’s mom here. We just want to say a heartfelt thank you for the incredible outpouring of support for Joe and his buddies. It’s all been so exciting – and a little overwhelming – but what means the most to us is that the world got to see a glimpse of what a truly great kid Joe is. And trust me, none of this will change who he is.
Here’s a picture of Joe last night, just sitting and fishing. He didn’t catch a thing, but he still had the best time – laughing up a storm with his big brother and me. Joe hopes to keep inspiring people of all ages to get outside and fish. He’s already looking forward to visiting more local ponds and making even more fishing buddies!”
Keeping fishing Joe… the world needs you to!The post Kid Captures The Heart Of The Internet After Landing The Biggest Fish Of His Life: “I’m Lowkey So Proud Of Myself” first appeared on Whiskey Riff.
