Johnny Manziel Missed His ‘College GameDay’ Guest Picker Appearance & The Internet Is Convinced He Was Too Hungover To Show Up

Johnny Manziel was a no-show ahead of the Texas A&M and Miami game.
The former Texas A&M quarterback and NFL bust was scheduled to be in College Station this morning for ESPN’s College GameDay. Manziel was supposed to serve as the guest picker alongside the likes of Kirk Herbstreit, Rece Davis, Desmond Howard, Pat McAfee, and Nick Saban, who had double duty this weekend (College GameDay did a show on Friday and Saturday).
Johnny Manziel never showed up.
Just yesterday, the GameDay crew was teasing the appearance of the Aggie legend on their show. Then this morning, they made no mention of Manziel, and instead made it known that former Texas A&M basketball player and current NBA star Alex Caruso would be the guest picker:
“‘College GameDay’ said last night that Johnny Manziel would be today’s celebrity guest picker but now the graphic say it’s Alex Caruso. I wonder what happened there.”
Hmm… what happened there? Should we ask the internet?
Social media sleuths quickly figured out a theory, and it’s a convincing one. As it turns out, Manziel attended the Jake Paul-Anthony Joshua fight in Miami, Florida (where Paul got his jaw broken), and let’s just say it didn’t look like he was sticking to water. The drinks – and potentially other things – were flowing, and Johnny Manziel provided all of that proof through his Instagram story:
“Johnny Manziel’s Instagram story the night before he was supposed to be ‘College GameDay’s’ guest picker for his former school’s first playoff appearance.”
So yeah, it makes sense that he didn’t make it.
Johnny Manziel partied a little too hard, and College GameDay had no other choice but to pivot. You can take Manziel out of Texas A&M, but you can’t take the Texas A&M out of Manziel. He still likes to get after it like he did in college, and ironically, this time it kept him from being a part of big moment for his alma mater (it was Texas A&M’s first College Football Playoff appearance). It’s even more poetic that he got hung up in Miami… while the Miami Hurricanes were beating up on the Aggies in College Station.
The internet let him hear it:
Aaaah ur tweet makes sense now lol. Welp, so much for Johnny Manziel being a changed man narrative he’s pushed in recent years lol https://t.co/DZ19nMGAke

Johnny Manziel missing College GameDay because he was out in Miami the night before is the most Johnny Manziel thing ever. Twelve years later, and nothing’s changed

Michael Irvin made it to the game from the Jake Paul fight
Johnny Manziel didn’t
That was the difference in the game

Might seem silly… but that’s how it did play out. Miami took down Texas A&M on their home turf in a snooze fest of a game. Which is fitting, considering Johnny Manziel hit the snooze button on his alarm (if he ever actually went to bed) and missed out on the whole thing altogether.
He was there in spirit though… and represented on many different, hilarious College GameDay signs like this one:
