It’s been a tough start to the 2025 season for Cincinnati Bengals fans, despite the team starting out the season 2-0 after wins over the Cleveland Browns and the Jacksonville Jaguars.
The team’s offensive line woes have continued from previous seasons, with the team apparently unable to find anybody in America who can help keep Joe Burrow upright in the pocket. And unfortunately, that led to their starting QB going down in the second quarter of the game yesterday against the Jags that’s apparently going to keep him sidelined for much of the season.
Bengals coach Zac Taylor revealed this morning that Burrow suffered a turf toe injury (and for the record, the name makes it sound a lot less gnarly and painful than it really is). The QB is expected to undergo surgery, with sources saying that he’s likely to be out for at least 3 months.
It’s no doubt a bad case of déjà vu all over again for Bengals fans, who has managed to remain uninjured and play only three full seasons since being drafted by Cincy in 2020.
While Burrow is out, the Bengals are once again expected to turn to Jake Browning, the University of Washington alum who was first signed by the Minnesota Vikings in 2019 after going undrafted in college before signing with the Bengals in 2021.
Browning started 7 games for the Bengals while subbing for the injured Burrow in 2023, going a respectable enough 4-3 but still not being able to lead the team to the playoffs in their starter’s absence.
He didn’t appear in any games last year, but it looks like the team is going to be on Browning’s shoulders for at what could end up being the majority – if not the rest – of the 2025 season. (Unless they would decide to trade for another QB like Jameis Winston, which would be electric).
Honestly though, the team looked decent with Browning in at QB yesterday, so while he’s no Joe Burrow, he’s at least a solid substitute.
The internet, though, seemed to be more interested in his fiancée – again.
If you remember back to the end of the 2023 season, Browning’s then-girlfriend Stephanie Niles stole the show during an otherwise meaningless matchup against the Cleveland Browns in her skin-tight bodysuit:
Well fast forward a year and a half, and Niles is once again going viral now that her man is once again the starting QB:
And her outfit for yesterday’s game turned some heads too:
I guess it’s not all bad for Bengals fans. At this point I’m not sure that Tom Brady could be successful behind the offensive line they have, so if you’ve got to have a quarterback in there, it might as well be Browning. And there’s no doubt that Niles will be getting just as much attention on the internet as her fiance is getting on the field.
