A simple, yet powerful, message.
This weekend, Ernest opened for Lainey Wilson at the Brookshire Grocery Arena in Bossier City, Louisiana as part of her 2025 Whirlwind tour, and like many other country stars have done this weekend, including his friend Morgan Wallen, Ernest took time to honor Conservative activist and media personality, Charlie Kirk.
Charlie was shot and killed on September 10th while speaking at Utah Valley University courtyard as part of The American Comeback Tour, which was hosted by the TPUSA chapter at Utah Valley.
During the event, Kirk was sitting under a tent with a massive crowd gathered around him as he spoke to the students. A singular shot was fired at Kirk, striking him in the neck, and he died shortly thereafter, leaving behind two very young children and his wife, Erika.
It has been incredibly sad to see and read about, and I can only imagine how heartbroken Erika, his kids and family are. On Thursday, Erika was seen arriving back home in Phoenix, Arizona with Charlie’s body, alongside Vice President JD Vance and Second Lady Usha Vance.
My heart breaks for her and the family:

Many from both sides of the political aisle have offered their prayers and condolences to Erika and her family, and plenty of country musicians have been speaking out about the political violence that occurred this week, which has absolutely no place in America.
Erika gave an incredibly powerful address to the world on Friday night, just days after the horrific assassination of her husband, and I was blown away at her grace and power in the face of such evil and tragedy that not only affects our country, but her personal life, so deeply.
She’s a true believer and a force to be reckoned with, that’s for sure:
And Ernest kept it short when addressing the horrific tragedy that took Charlie’s life, acknowledging the senseless loss of life that occurred, and explaining that he believes there are just two things that can happen in this country going forward: “It’s chaos, or, we become the United States of America again”
After the heavy and sad week I think many of us have had this week, in many ways, it really can feel as simple as that.
Of course, that’s not to minimize the horrific tragedy of Charlie’s assassination in any way, a young man lost his life, a wife lost her husband and two very young children lost their father, something I can’t even begin to imagine, but we must find some sort of way forward that’s far less divisive than what it’s been like in this country over the last decide-plus:
“A lot of people and families lost loved ones this week to pointless violence, in my opinion. And that sucks. And there’s two things that can happen from that: It’s chaos, or… we become the United States of America again.”
Amen… the crowd seemed pretty amped up by it, too, and filled the arena with cheers as he spoke:

Ernest also delivered a rousing rendition of Toby Keith’s iconic hit “Courtesy of the Red, White and Blue (The Angry American)” during his set:
