Love a good country music conspiracy theory.

The perfect time and place for those? Probably when Hardy sat down with the Blurry Creatures Podcast. If you haven’t ever heard of that show, it’s exactly what you think it would be. Blurry Creatures hosts Nate Henry and Luke Rodgers (Packers legend, Aaron Rodgers’, brother) discuss the unknown: bigfoot, ghosts, aliens, and other unexplainable creatures that are often blurry when photographed or caught on camera, and they do so from a uniquely Christian perspective.

Pretty good name for a podcast, if you ask me.

In a somewhat weird turn for the show, they had country music star Hardy on to discuss paranormal experiences, Nashville-adjacent ghost stories, and a whole lot more. Some of that “more” was Hardy’s career, how it came to be, and how the “Truck Bed” singer’s faith has acted as a guiding light for him ever since he decided to be an artist.

Hardy even said in the conversation that some of his experiences in the music industry thus far have bolstered his faith:

“I have had so many opportunities fall into my lap that are unexplainable. I believe in myself and think that I have talent, but I have always, in my mind, seen it as there is a hand that is sort of pushing me this way. Those are reasons that I believe in God.”

Certainly seems like there’s a Higher Power that’s helped Hardy along the way. He describes it as randomly making the right decisions, and has a feeling that it might not all be that random. The country singer-songwriter gave an example of getting linked up with Morgan Wallen on a whim:

“Great example, the first time I wrote with Morgan, he had one song that had peaked at No. 30 on the charts. My publisher called me and said, ‘Hey, this Morgan Wallen kid… do you want to write with him?’ I was like, ‘Sure,’ and at that point in my career, I was turning things down occasionally.

All I mean by that is I said, ‘Yeah, I’ll write with him, he’s cool,’ and he’s a big part of me. He changed my life. So did the FGL guys. Just things like that, where that could have been anybody that day. But he and I happened to hit it off and ended up writing a ton of hits together.”

Safe to say that Hardy and Morgan Wallen have been a musical match made in heaven.

And because the Blurry Creatures podcast hosts are always trying to get to the bottom of things – and bring conspiracy to light – they had to ask Hardy if there was a larger force, in the form of the Illuminati or literal “I made a deal with the Devil” type of situations (Faustian bargain) that have a controlling hand in the music industry. Hardy got a kick out of the question, and quickly denied that theory.

And I have to say, his logic is pretty good. Of course, it doesn’t mean he’s right, but it makes sense. He says that he doesn’t believe there are any evil forces behind the curtain in the music industry mainly because his best friend is one of the biggest stars in all of music. If anyone in the music world was going to be in it, or approached to be in it, Morgan Wallen would be a prime candidate with his scope of influence. And Hardy can confirm that he’s not… but he would be if it was real:

“I don’t think the illuminati, as far as I’m concerned, is real. Morgan Wallen is one of my best friends and if anybody were gonna be considered to be in it at this point in their career, it’s him. That’s silly.

Being in this industry, there’s not a ‘Wizard of Oz’ behind the curtain controlling the thing and the people. There are record executives and managers that recognize trends very well and they can kind of see history repeat itself. That’s all there is to it.”

They went on to talk about Blues legend, Robert Johnson, and his alleged deal with the Devil, as well as Bob Dylan once implying that he made some type of cosmic bargain. And Hardy wasn’t buying any of that either. Pretty interesting convo, and truly, the whole pod was well worth a listen.
