Never doubt John Daly when it comes to how much alcohol he can throw back.
The pro golfer is a legendary sports figure, and whether you like it or not, Daly is a glistening representation of the peak male form. He presented himself to the world as a professional athlete in the late 1980s by speaking his mind and wearing bright colored and patterned outfits.
Daly has only grown his reputation ever further by drinking beer, smoking cigs, and parking his RV outside of Hooter’s restaurants to sign autographs. If you haven’t figured it out already, Daly pretty much does anything and everything he wants to, whenever he wants to. That’s why his pre-round routine can sometimes only last one swing, and almost always involves an inordinate amount of Diet Coke.
And sometimes, the loud-mouthed and loud-dressed golfer needs his Diet Coke to be a little stronger… if you catch my drift. He’s even created his own line of vodka and vodka drinks called “Good Boy.” His brand features different vodka lemonade, tea and other various mixed drinks, and Daly is evidently a fan of his own product.
It’s no secret that John Daly enjoys pounding some drinks, and in a recent interview on Marty & McGee, ESPN’s Marty Smith asked the 59-year-old golfer a beautiful question: What’s the largest quantity of John Daly seltzers he’s consumed in a day? Daly was very happy to answer that question, and quickly fired back:
“I think I’ve done 55 or 60 of these (in a day). You know, we’re non-carbonated. There’s no added sugar. We’re gluten free, 95 calories. It’s only 4.5% alcohol in it.”
55 to 60 seltzers in a day is insane.
And to be clear… I’m not sure Daly’s Good Boy branded products qualify as seltzers, since they aren’t carbonated. But I supposed the golf legend just humored Marty Smith and decided to answer the question without getting too technical. Still though… five 12-packs of canned cocktails in a day? Add that to the already lengthy list of Daly’s absurd drinking accomplishments.
Daly also just recently announced he’d be opening up his own Nashville bar. I’ve actually been there in person, and there are plenty of Good Boy drinks to go around. While the Nashville bar news is certainly exciting, I’m really looking forward to the Happy Gilmore sequel that Daly is starring in.
When Daly was asked about his character that’s an exaggeration of himself, the long-ball hitter stated that fans should expect to be wildly entertained by the sequel, and revealed what he could:
“Bud Martin from Wasserman (Media) approached me about doing ‘Happy Gilmore 2.’ I said, ‘For Adam? Yeah I’ll do it. I’ll do a couple of things for him.’ But I’m doing a lot more. I guess I’m going to be living in a garage. That’s about all I can say. It’s going to be funny. I’m telling you right not. Get ready to cry laugh.”
