George Strait Announces ‘Strait To The Heart’ Benefit Concert For Texas Hill Country Flooding, Featuring Riley Green, Jamey Johnson & More

Stepping up for his home state.

This afternoon, country icon George Strait announced a special benefit dinner and concert in Boerne, Texas, Strait To The Heart, which will take place on Sunday, July 27th at Estancia at Thunder Valley indoor arena. He has put it together alongside businessman and Vaqueros del Mar partner of 15-years, Tom Cusick as a way to help devastated families who lost everything in tragic flash flooding on July 4th in Kerr county.

In the wake of the catastrophic flooding that has impacted so many lives across Texas’ Hill Country, as entire communities have been devastated, and families are mourning the loss of their children and loved ones. The death toll currently sits at 120, and 173 people remain missing at the time of this publishing. Over two dozen of those deaths are campers and counselors from the girls’ camp, Camp Mystic, as well as Camp Mystic longtime owner and director Dick Eastland, gave his life while trying to save campers.

Many other families have been completely displaced and lost everything, and it’s been so heartbreaking and tragic to see all of the photos and hear all of the stories of the Texans that have been affected.

The concert will not only feature a performance by the King of country, but some other fantastic artists in William Beckmann, Ray Benson, Wade Bowen, Dean Dillon, Riley Green, Randy Houser, Jamey Johnson, Kyle Park, Hudson Westbrook and members of George’s legendary Ace in the Hole Band.

Strait says he hopes this event will support flood victims, as the funds will go directly to them for immediate support, as well as helping the first responders that have worked tirelessly to help however they can during this tragic time:

“The destruction and loss in our community from the recent flood is hard to wrap your head around. Our hearts and prayers are with you all. The goal with this event is to raise meaningful, immediate support that can be put directly into the hands of flood victims without delay, while also honoring the first responders that work tirelessly to save lives.

Special thanks to our friends and fellow troubadours—William Beckman, Ray Benson, Wade Bowen, Dean Dillon, Riley Green, Randy Houser, Jamey Johnson, Kyle Park, Hudson Westbrook and members of my Ace in the Hole Band—for joining me on stage to lend their talent and their hearts to this mission.”

Cusick adds:

“The road ahead will be a long one, however the immediate need is so great that we didn’t want to wait. Together, we can show our neighbors that when hardship strikes, Texas and our Country stand strong, and we stand together.”

The concert will have extremely limited tickets and is capped at 1,000 guests, and price points will vary and begin at $1,000. Complimentary tickets will be provided to local area first-responders, which is really incredible and very well-deserved.

Donations will be made to 501c3 Vaqueros del Mar Texas Flood Relief Fund and distributed directly to affected families as well as established Hill Country funds.

In addition to Strait, the entire country music community has banded together for the people of Texas, as artists like Randy Rogers Band, Josh Abbott, and Robert Earl Keen showing their support and shared heartache for those suffering loss. Miranda Lambert is also showing support for the shelters and displaced animals from the flooding through her MuttNation Foundation
