The ex-Chelsea boss has lost 13 times in total, with last Saturday bringing a London derby thrashing at the hands of rivals Tottenham.

Spurs cruised to a 3-0 victory to pile pressure on Potter, with more questions raised on whether he’s the right man for the job.

That was his side’s third defeat of the Premier League season already and they now sit 18th in the table after four outings.

Their only win of the campaign came just before the international break, as they beat Nottingham Forest 3-0 – but that result has now been very quickly forgotten.

And it leaves Potter in trouble, with former West Ham boss Pardew looking back on that loss and where things went wrong.

Let down by the transfer window?

Despite bringing in eight new signings this summer, Pardew believes that Potter would have wanted some more investment.

Getting more out of his players

When it comes to Potter’s existing squad, Pardew is pleased with some of the talent that he has available.

But he thinks the Hammers boss can try a bit harder to get more out of his stars, such as Wilson and Crysencio Summerville.

“Callum Wilson has pedigree…I think he’s got a point to prove and he might have a great year this year,” Pardew continued.

“I hope he does, he’s the type of player that if you get into him and revved him up a little bit…he can be a bit complacent, the manager has got to be right on top of him to get a tune out of him.

“On Summerville, I managed him when I was at ADO Den Haag on loan from Ajax, he’s a terrific lad and an honest character.

“He’s got better as his defensive work and got his big move and he needs to deliver now, he’s stepping up in class.

“I think the question mark there for Potter is starting to get a little bit more out of these individuals.

“Get into them and get some more fight on the pitch.”

West Ham’s London Stadium continues to be questioned and Pardew also mentioned the atmosphere in the ground.

He says Potter needs to get his players going for that to translate to the stands and to the supporters.

Pardew explained: “It all looks flat and there can’t be anything worse in that stadium than it being flat, because the stadium doesn’t give you any energy, you have to give it energy.

“At the old Boleyn, the stadium worked with the fans, they inspired each other… this stadium doesn’t inspire anyone.”
