Dierks Bentley & Hot Country Knights Deliver A Hilarious, R-Rated Rendition Of “Riser”

Dierks Bentley has been on a bit of a hot streak this year.
Between his 11th studio album, Broken Branches, back on June 13th, which featured the likes of Riley Green, Miranda Lambert and more, and his highly successful tour of the same name with Zach Top and The Band Loula, the “I Hold On” singer has been selling out amphitheaters all summer. Coming along for the ride to close out each show has been none other than the Hot Country Knights led by their frontman, Douglas “Doug” Douglason.
In case you’re not familiar with the Hot Country Knights, they’re Bentley’s ’90s country parody band that he formed back in 2015, which has delivered some legendary tracks such as “Moose Knuckle Shuffle,” “You Make It Hard” with Terri Clark and their most recent release, “Herassmeant” with Darla McFarland.
Though the parody band has been closing out Bentley’s concerts for years at this point, it seems as if they’ve hit their stride with the addition of Zach Top’s character, Billy Bottoms Jr., getting thrown into the mix and even getting Post Malone to join for a performance of “Sold (The Grundy County Auction Incident)” back on July 31st.
Most nights, HCK typically performs a ’90s country medley consisting of “Chattahoochee,” “T-R-O-U-B-L-E,” “I Like It, I Love It,” “Meet in the Middle,” “Heads Carolina, Tails California,” “Achy Breaky Heart,” “Man! I Feel Like a Woman” and “Friends in Low Places” before closing their set with full renditions of the aforementioned “Sold” and “Ain’t Goin’ Down (‘Til the Sun Comes Up).”
This past Friday in Raleigh, North Carolina, the Knights threw a bit of a curveball into the set and completely outdid themselves with a parody of Bentley’s 2015 gold single, “Riser.”
Just as a bit of a refresher on “Riser,” here are the lyrics:
“I’m a riser
I’m a get up off the ground, don’t run and hider Pushing comes a-shovin’ Hey I’m a fighter When darkness comes to town, I’m a lighter A get out aliver, out of the fire Survivor”Now let’s compare them to the Hot Country Knight’s brand new, totally Viagra-approved version.
“I got a riser
I took a little blue pill and turned into a bigger sizer I wanna thank the white lab coat guys that work at Pfizer Now I got four hours to turn it into a geyser My game’s on fire, like Orel Hershiser Got a riser”Bentley (or should I say Doug Douglason) finished by pointing to his Viagra-sponsored jacket and said:
“Get your Pfizer riser. Triple size it.”
I don’t even know where to really begin with this one. I guess for starters, a song with the name “Riser” was just begging for a parody like this, but I didn’t expect Dierks to go this far with it. Out of every lyric he and his co-writers have penned throughout the years, I truly don’t think they’ll be able to match, “Now I got four hours to turn it into a geyser.”
Truly one of the greatest lines and greatest performances of all time.
