Just diabolical.

With the release of the Prime Video Earnhardt documentary, race fans have gotten an incredibly interesting, and nuanced, look at Dale Earnhardt the race car driver, the man, the friend and the father, and Dale Earnhardt Jr.  and his sister Kelley played a huge part in the production of the series, in addition to being heavily featured in it, telling stories about their dad and memories that were both good and bad.

But in addition to the more serious side of things, they told tons of great stories, and Dale Jr. has had some of the people from the doc on his podcast the Dale Jr. Download, including his long-time best friend Josh Snider, who made an appearance in Earnhardt. Josh is one of the original “Dirty Mo Posse” members and has a brand on his arm to prove it.

The guys originally met at a mutual friend’s party in the late 90’s in Mooresville, North Carolina and soon after became inseparable. The two shared a double-wide trailer where they raised all kinds of hell. From there, “Camp Chaos” was born, and the two would live out their 20s having house parties and enjoying Dale’s budding success as he progressed in his NASCAR career.

The ultimate prank had to do with Jr. releasing 2,000 crickets into Josh’s room at Jr.’s trailer, but the prank to end all the pranks had to do with their friend Topher. Jr. and his friends had broken into his house in the middle of the night and covered him with water and flour, which we’ll get to, so he had to really bring it to get them back… and he took it to the next level.

He left a pregnancy test on Jr.’s bathroom counter, and the girl Jr. was dating at the time was in on it. When Jr. came home one day, there it was:

“So the ultimate end of the pranking was a single prank pulled by Topher, Christopher Allen. God, this was good. This ended all the pranks. I come home, I had this girl that I was dating, she’s sitting on the coach. She’s just just normal. I run upstairs to throw my bag in the bedroom, or do something, use the bathroom. I come out of the bathroom, and I see something on the counter.

I go over there, and I don’t know what I’m looking, at but eventually I mean, just second or two, I’m like, it’s a damn pregnancy test. And I read it, and it’s positive. And I was like holy s***. And I’m like, she’s pregnant, why wouldn’t she just tell me? So I go downstairs and I’m like, ‘Why don’t you just tell me? This ain’t how I find out.’ And she just sat there, and she knew that this prank was happening, but she didn’t have a plan. And so in like two minutes, she’s finally like, ‘You just need to go ask you friends.’

And I was like, that’s weird. Why would I need to go talk to my friends about this? Because I still think she’s pregnant. She’s like ‘You just need to ask your friends. You need to go ask Christopher, you need to go ask Topher. I’m like, weird. So I go to Topher, and he’s like, ‘Yeah, I had a friend of mine, his wife’s pregnant. I had her give me the positive test so I could plant it in your bathroom.’ And I was like, That was diabolical, man.’ Because, oh my God. That was diabolical.”

Diabolical is really the only word to describe it… Josh and some of their other friends knew about it, but considering he was still “dealing with the damn cricket problem” he was very much encouraging this pregnancy test prank.

Jr. called it “mean” for Josh not to talk Topher out of it, but I definitely can’t blame him for not doing so considering he had 2,000 crickets in his room. His response was hilarious:

“No, I couldn’t because you just let 2000 crickets in my damn house. I wasn’t talking him out of s***. I was encouraging at this point. I was about to go put a sign up that said, who’s pregnant and willing to pee on a stick? He was working for you at the time, he was working at JRM. It was a guy that worked with you guys, and I can’t remember what team Topher worked on, what car number.

But I think it was the car chief or something, his wife was pregnant. I’m like, do it, do it, do it. Hovis was all in on it. Brawley knew about it a little bit, Brawley’s still pissed because we really screwed his room up. I think we put two pounds of flour and about five gallons of water on him. He really got it bad.”

They recalled the night they broke into Topher’s house and did that, which ended with Jr. thinking he was going to get into a fist fight with his friend:

“There was a bunch of us that night, I remember that night . It was 3 o’clock in the morning, we had been drinking beer all day. We go in there, we had multiple buckets. We had multiple bags of flour. We just destroyed his room, and I actually ran into the closet.

And the light comes on, and I’m like, s***, I’m in the closet. And everyone else is gone. Y’all have left the house. I went the wrong way, and I’m screwed now, I’m trapped. And I’m like, he’s really gonna beat my a**. Like, he might, he might swing. This is my buddy, this is my buddy, but I’m like, he might swing on me on this.

And so I had to like listen to him stomp around in that room, cussing. “These mother*******. I’ll get these….’ And he goes out of the room, and I made a beeline for it to the door. And he saw me, and he was hollering or something at me cussing at me or something man, but is was close. I almost got, I was almost in a fight.”

Josh agreed it would’ve been a “fight to the end,” and they waited for Jr. out in the field and they could hear Sean on the porch just cussing them out while they waited:

“It would’ve been a fight to the end, he was mad. He came out on the front porch, because you ran around the back porch. I’m like, ‘Where’s Jr.? Where’s Jr.?’ I’m laying down in the field, trying to act like I’m freaking in the Army or something, Army crawling. Like you said, we were pretty hammered at the time.

Sean’s just yelling, ‘I can’t believe you guys did this. I’ve gotta work tomorrow.’ Next thing you know, he’s on the front porch is cussing at us. I know y’all are out there. Then I seen Jr. come around the house, booking, bud. Oh, he was so mad at us. Sean didn’t really get us back, though.”

Jr. said he never pranked any of his friends that he was afraid would get him back in a bad way, though he admitted he misread Topher’s reaction and for obvious, high-blood-pressure inducing reasons, the pregnancy test prank ended it all for those boys.

I mean, that’s just checkmate:

“He never did… I didn’t prank anyone who I was worried about the repercussions. That’s why we never pranked TJ, because TJ would be diabolical. Now I misread Topher, I didn’t see that one coming. If I’d have known Topher was gonna prank me back with that pregnancy test, I probably would’ve not pranked him in the first place.”

Yeah… that’s a heck of a miscalculation, and also, I’d love to hear the girls’ side of this story because there’s no way she liked him that much if she went along with his friends doing something like that. I mean, ruthless… or maybe I should ask what Jr. night have done to make her want to go along with it in the first place.

The whole episode is absolutely hilarious, and even if you’re not really into racing, you’ll quickly see why these two had their own Sirius XM radio show back in the day because they’re hilarious together and I couldn’t stop laughing listening to them talk.
