Taking a step back to focus on her health.
Back in June, Dolly Parton announced she would be playing a run of very special shows this December as part of her Las Vegas residency, Dolly: Live in Las Vegas. She hasn’t been on a tour since her Pure & Simple tour which concluded in 2016, though she has done a few tours and shows here and there since then, so fans were obviously looking forward to seeing her back onstage for a full show.
She had six shows scheduled for the residency at The Colosseum in Caesar’s Palace this December:
But yesterday, Dolly’s team shared a post she wrote to fans announcing that she would unfortunately have to postpone her residency dates due to “health challenges.” She didn’t get specific, obviously, but Dolly explained that whatever she is going through will require surgery, and she will need time to recover, and therefore will not be ready to go in full show form by December,
In typical Dolly fashion, she joked that it wasn’t an appointment for her “usual trip to see my plastic surgeon,” and she feels as though God is trying to tell her to slow down for this season and rest up.
She assured everyone that she’s not quitting, and she plans to give the fans the show she feels they deserve as soon as she’s back to 100%:
“I want the fans and public to hear directly from me that, unfortunately, I will need to postpone my upcoming Las Vegas concert. As many of you know, I have been dealing with some health challenges, and my doctors tell me that I must have a few procedures.
As I joked with them, it must be time for my 100,000-mile check-up, although it’s not the usual trip to see my plastic surgeon! In all seriousness, given this, I wam not gong to be able to rehearse and put together the show that I want you to see, and the show that you deserve to see.
You pay good money to see me perform, and I want to be at my best for you. While I’m still able to work on all of my projects from Nashville, I just need a little time to get show ready, as they say. And don’t worry about me quittin’ the business because God hasn’t said anything about stopping yet.
But, I believe He is telling me to slow down right now so I can ready for more big adventures with all of you. I love you and thank you for understanding. “
Just recently, on September 17th, Dolly had to miss a previously-scheduled appearance at the announcement of her new Dollywood attraction, Night Flight Expedition, due to kidney stones, though it’s unclear if any of this is related.
Dolly works non-stop, and even when her beloved, longtime husband Carl Dean passed away in March, Dolly really didn’t take much time off at all, and was seen at Dollywood right around two weeks after his passing.
She has a lot going on right now with her beauty line, Dolly Beauty, her Imagination Library Foundation, her theme park Dollywood, among many other things, in addition to gearing up to release her forthcoming book Star of the Show: My Life on Stage. Her work ethic is beyond impressive, and while it’s unfortunate that health issues are causing her to slow down, she deserves a break and hopefully she will be on the mend quickly following her procedures.
But of course, it didn’t stop fans from being concerned for the country queen, who really is the last great thing on this earth… we need her.
Her comments section was lit up with fans both expressing concern and offering thoughts and prayers as she takes some time to slow down and focus on her health:
“Currently googling ‘how to donate my organs to Dolly Parton.'”
“Sending all loving and healing vibes to the one who loves and heals us all.”
“Class act: take all the time you need love! We know when you bounce back you’ll make it bigger and better than ever! Sending prayers and healing light!”
“Glad Dolly is making her health first priority. I hope she makes a speedy and full recovery, from whatever her ailment is.”
“We love you. Rest and take the time you need. We need you around.”
“Prayers for a quick and full recovery for you , Dolly. We need you in this world.”
“We love you, Dolly. We need you in this world more than any concert. Take care of yourself.”
“Protect this woman at all costs! We love you, Dolly!”
“National treasure!!!”
“Protect Dolly at all costs!”
“You are a gift. Stay healthy, we need you.”
“Your health always comes first!”
“Rest up and prioritize you. The world needs you fit and well.”
“Please take care of your health. You are a national treasure.”
It goes on like that, and clearly, I think we’re all on the same page and hope Dolly can slow down and take care of herself before getting back to work operating at the non-stop level she’s been used to for so many years.
If anyone deserves a break, it’s Dolly Parton, and hopefully this is exactly what she needs, and her Vegas residency will certainly be waiting for her when she’s good and ready. The post “Currently Googling ‘How To Donate My Organs To Dolly Parton'” – Fans React To News That Dolly Is Postponing Her Las Vegas Residency Shows Due To Health Challenges first appeared on Whiskey Riff.
