Another one

The great Cody Jinks has a brand new album on the way this summer, and is treating fans to another slice of the tracklist. Titled, In My Blood, Jinks says the title track is an extension of the previous album, Change The Game, the next chapter if you will:

“I think that ‘In My Blood,’ the song itself could be taken as the next chapter of ‘Change the Game.’ We know what we did. We know where we’ve been. We know what we’ve done. ‘In My Blood’ is why we keep doing it.”

Jinks kicked off the announcement with lead single “Found,” and today, he’s back with another cut from the album… the first track, “Better Than The Bottle.” After spending the bulk of his career career out on the road, and decades of the melting faces and deleting Miller Lites in every club and honky tonk around America, Jinks officially said goodbye to alcohol in 2023, just a couple days after his 43rd birthday.

This song illustrates that there is a certain joy to slowing it down, and while he still may have a vice or two, it’s certainly “better than the bottle.” And while I’m not in one of the premiere touring bands in country music, I can absolutely understand the sentiment. I spent most of my 20s in bars, clubs and honkey tonks, watching bands like Cody and drinking more beers than any one person should. Hell, I probably don’t even remember half the concerts I’ve been to. But now, in my mid-30s with a couple young kids, I probably have a few cold ones a month. Maybe it’s part of getting older, and priorities shifting, but when you look back on it all, it’s not hard to see why there’s a lot of things out there that are “better than the bottle.”

Complete with some beautiful steel licks and that signature Cody Jinks conviction, “Better Than The Bottle” is an introspective look back at where you’ve been, taking stock of the progress you’ve made, and knowing that there’s always ways you can be working on yourself. A song of redemption and hope, Cody reminds fans that it’s never too late to turn it around.

In My Blood Tracklist:

Better Than the Bottle
Lost Highway
The Others
In My Blood (ft. Blackberry Smoke)
Something Wicked This Way Comes
See the Man
When You Can’t Remember
Lonely Man
Monster

You’re on a journey with me. My life is my records. Nothing’s changed. This album was me, my band, producers and engineers. That’s as real as it gets. That’s as authentic as I can make it. Excited to share my new album In My Blood drops July 25th.
